I can't help with the excercise but would you like some recipes that have lots of vegetable, no or minimal amount of oils/butters and still taste good and don't make you feel sorry for yourself? My roomates lost nearly 25 lbs eating with me <I know what you are thinking! my food taste good> we didn't skip any meal-breakfast, lunch and dinner- no starving and no soul torturing. I was raised thinking that the best way to eat is to have a balanced meal (contain every food group). 1. carbohydrate: rice, noodle 2. protiens: meat, nuts/beans/eggs/milk 3. vegetables 4. fruit: <-----we eat them an hour before or after our meal 5. fats: oils/nuts/etc. If you want no oil at all, i can think of fresh spring rolls, soup, salad (with orange/lime dressing), etc. Don't worry about eating rice, my friends used to worry that it has carbohydrate. It has high fiber, so you can't eat much. You will be full really quick. Food that contain high fiber stay longer in your stomach so you won't be starving soon. and it cleans up your digestion organs-stomach, intestines). one thing from my doctor friends, don't have coffee and donuts or any sweet in the morning. It will boost your sugar level very quickly and those thing wil be burnt out very quickly so you will experience mood swing and get hungry for lunch at ~10 or 11. Your body doesn't have any food for 8 hrs, give it something easy to digest, something with high fiber is good. if you can't have breakfast, have some fruit. It give single molecules and yourbody can use it right away.

Pancake: The Atkins website has a wonderful list of foods and their carbs - so that will also tell you which ones are low!

I love Denise Austin's videos, she's crazy but I lost so much weight doing her aerobics and her hit the spot abs videos. She's way too freakin' happy but at 40 something with 2 kids she looks better than me at 26 with no kids.
Some of my favorite Denise quotes:
"We're burning butter now!"
"We're gonna look great from behind!"
"Tight Tummies YES! Super Stomachs YES!"
"I want you to say 'Denise, I can do it! Ready? Say it to me! Denise, I can do it!"
"We're gonna do the grapevine! This is my favorite one, it's so much fun!"
"We're gonna do something called the boxstep, ready" (on the very first step she totally messes up and her foot gets caught behind her leg and she doesn't cross over and you can see her face turn for a second cause she knows she messed up so she claps her hands and says "Good!" like it never happened)
"GO" (yelled while pointing both fingers at the camera, walking toward it and smiling like a serial killer)

Whew, L2D, almost none of those foods from MSN Health are consistent with the LA Weight Loss Diet. LA WL would consider those foods as Maintenance foods, not Dietary.
I've been on/off LA Weight Loss for a year and half and have lost 72 pounds.
It really does prove there's no perfect diet for everybody. One diet does NOT fit all! For instance, some lose weight on Atkins, others gain.
The trick is you've just got to experiment and find which diet works for you. And if MSN Health diet has worked for you, stick with it!

I've been on/off LA Weight Loss for a year and half and have lost 72 pounds. well, congratulations!! and yes, it's true...one diet does not fit all...i tried atkins a few years ago with my mom. it worked for both of us for about 2 weeks, and after that, i actually started gaining weight without changing anything at all!! how strange...since then, however, i had to cancel my membership to my gym because of a leg injury and haven't been able to get back there, and i try jogging, but when there's snow on the sidewalks and rain pouring every other day here, it's a little difficult to do that....but, on a lighter note, spring is almost here! ;D literally cannot wait!

L2D, your experience with Atkins is a common one. I've not known many people who've had success with it, and that includes myself. But I know there must be people who find it works for them or it wouldn't be so popular.
I'm very sorry to hear of your leg injury. I hope nothing permanent! Good for you for getting back to jogging.
I'm getting back to exercising too, and it feels great. I'm walking every night, doing some calisthenics in the morning. I want to go back to the gym and do weights and swimming.
It was hard during January because our winters are so dark & rainy. I get so depressed I can barely motivate myself to do anything, much less exercise. I'm one of those kind of people who don't do well without a lot of sunshine.
But our spring comes early and - touch wood - it might be just about here! I just came back from a long walk. I was already sore from the exercising I'd done this morning, but it's a "good" kind of sore. Ha.
I'm in the market for a small treadmill or stepper with handles (to work the arms) - a machine small enough to fit in my living room.
