i was thinking about doing atkins but every time someone says something different i always go into deep thinking mode and dont start b/c i believe what everyone says. I work out sooo much that im not really on a diet im trying to eat right but i wanna lose it fast . i tried LA weight loss....i didnt like their system at all...to be honest i would rather do weight watchers b/c u can count points on LA u have to count foods and it just took so much energy. all i want is a simple diet!!

Pancake, I hope I didn't sound like I was here to advertise for LA Weight Loss. I was just saying what worked for me. I'm undisciplined and require structure and convenience. For those reasons, LA works for me.
The WW point system didn't work for me. I tended to accumulate all my points by eating all the WRONG food! But I'm glad it works for you b/c LA Weight Loss is NOT cheap. One is required to have disposable income to stay with LA, something I'm fortunate to have.
Sometimes, for some of us, it requires a crisis situation to make us treat our bodies as we should.
For me, turning 54 was sort of a make-or-break point. My older brother had heart bypass surgery at 54. He had never taken care of himself and ended up paying the price. I realized I was headed in the same direction as he; with a family history full of cardiovascular disease, there was a real possibility that if I didn't change my evil ways I might not see 60.
Plus, there was a vanity issue too; I could not accept the plump, frumpy, matronly woman I saw in the mirror. As silly as it sounds, I didn't want that woman to be the woman who'd be lucky enough to run into Owen some fine, random day!
Glad to hear you work out so much. I'll keep you as an inspiration for myself! May I ask exactly what you do specifically in your workout routine? I'll appreciate your input.

Thank you Pancake!! I enjoy aerobics, but I have bad knees and find the hopping & jumping to be too much. I have arthritis which forced me to finally give up my beloved sport of bicycling. Thank you for the tip. I'll go there right away!

Pancake, Herbalife and DHEA are supposed to be good, safe sources.

Be careful with DHEA, especially if you're on other meds. I took it for awhile (alone), and it didn't seem to do much for me at all. But, that's just me. For energy, I've had good results with Green Tea, Ginseng, and all the B vitamins. Drink lots of water, and get plenty of rest. I've noticed that everyone is on those eliptical machines. I must venture over there and give it a try.

GINSENG!!!! thats what it was...i couldnt remember! I kept thinking ginkoba Thanks Guys!! O yea u know ellipticals are great. in my opinion they are better than treadmills. because its kind of like running and bouncing at the same time rather than just walking. It's fun!!!

I used to run, but with arthritic knees it's out of the question. Last time I ran, I set off a painful bout of tendonitis which lasted 2 weeks. My doc told me running/jogging & bicycling are not sports for me but that walking & swimming are, and I love to do both. Wish I could play sports but, again, so many of them involve running. And I was never athletically gifted. Nobody would want me on their team, lol! ;D

Pancake, don't belittle yourself. I'm sure you do fine!
As a kid, I was the ultra tomboy. But, sadly, for me that trait did not translate into being athletic which was a big disappointment to me.
During my bout with tendonitis, I was painfully walking around with an exaggerated limp. I had to go to Wal-Mart one night. Walking through the parking lot, I grabbed the first abandoned shopping cart I could find. I used it like one would use a walker. It got me in, through, and out of the store pretty well. I was sorry to have to return it to the cart corral. I couldn't help but chuckle at the situation - and the funny picture I must have presented, hanging on to the shopping cart. ;D
It's no surprise exercise makes us feel better - physically & emotionally. It's probably the best remedy for what ails us. It forces us to manufacture endorphins and oxygenates the blood. I can't think of any situation that isn't helped by some kind of exercise.
