I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about diet and fitness. Where we can share healthy recipes, workout tips, and anything else. As women we should try to stay as healthy as we can and I thought if we had a thread we could stay motivated as well as support each other!
Good idea?? Bad idea?? Let me know!

i currently have nothing to share, but i read a lot (and i mean a lot) of diet/fitness related articles every day, and i am totally willing to help out with anything!
again, great idea!!

One of the things that helped me loose so much weight was to not eat after 6:00 pm. That was indeed a difficult thing to do, and no, I didn't always adhear to that, but as a general rule of thumb, it most certainly did help me.

KAthy Smith Workout videos/dvds are excellant she has a variety of different ones includins cardio, kickboxing, yoga, and toning. I love them and i work out on my elliptical machine alot. I eat junk food when i wake up in the morning for some reason but im also on medication for Attention Deficit Disorder and it decreases my appetite...(Thank God for that!! ) so i dont really eat alot the rest of the day . Plus i work out so much that i dont even think it matters..i devote my whole day to it b/c i dont have anythign else to do and being healthy and fit is my top priority!! I wish it was watermelon season...i could eat that all day long!! I just wanted to throw that in there!!!

Great idea for a thread! I was thinking of starting it too so I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Sometimes it helps to have people to share these things with - keep me on the straight & narrow!
In addition to not eating after 6 pm, another good trick is to drink lots of water. Helps maintain a feeling of fullness - and no calories. Plus, it helps the metabolic rate. It can also help reduce appetite; sometimes when we think we're hungry, we're actually dehydrated and just don't know it.

I've ordered The Firm videos from this site: www.collagevideo.com/They were really good with customer service - I got a damaged DVD and they sent me a new one, with a postage paid envelope for me to return the old one. But I love doing The Firm workouts - they were exactly the same as stuff I would do in the gym. The trick is actually doing them constantly.

Have you tried the South Beach Diet? I think it works. The first two weeks are tough, but then I think that it's a good plan - it's something you can stick with the rest of your life because you get to eat a lot of things. You should check it out.

This is from a program I saw on PBS a while back. Very informative and a pretty good overview of the most popular diet plans out there! www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/diet/You can even watch the program if you would like. (I personally don't believe in diets. Except to have a "healthy diet".)

True, that is why I like the South Beach one. I use it more of as an informative guide line. For instance, I have never used butter for anything. My whole life I have used olive oil. Like you said Remi, it's learning how to eat healthy and making that lifestyle change that is important.

Sorry for the double-post. This is from a Newsletter that I subscribe to. I have cut and posted the major points. It's a total guilt trip about what you would have to do to work off some SuperBowl foods.
The article also lists healthy alternatives for each snack. If anyone is interested, I could either PM or email the whole article to you.
Reckon we need to start a Powder-Puff Football team? ;D I know I'm game!
