Pancake, I'm not sure if this is the equation you're looking for, but 1 pound = 3,500 calories. In other words, you must burn 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound. (Stinks, doesn't it?) I found it here: www.fitness.com/fitness_exercise/v962927135.phpOn a related note: Yay! I FINALLY broke out of the 170's. As of Friday night, I weighed 169.0! Twenty-nine more pounds to go.

In real money its 12st.07lbs...way to go T'gal. In other diet/fitness related news, I'm now the same size as I was post pregnancy with my youngest kid 5 years ago. I cannot diet, don't have the will power...I'll need to get my walking boots back on. Mr. Furg is on the Atkins diet...he stinks to high heaven. I wonder what all the celebs do to mask the Atkins odour?

I believe the high protein diet, causes higher amino acids within the secretion of sweat glands and urine, therefore the ammonia producing a stronger odor.....Or maby its something else?

Natalie, I'm so glad you resurrected this thread as I'd like to ask discuss this.
Btw, I re-read my old posting above and, well, let's just say I need to start over!
I've been on again/off again Nutrisystem for the past few months. I like the food OK, but I'm having trouble with staying faithful to it. Also, it's rather expensive and probably unhealthy as it has to be full of preservatives since no refrigeration is required. So I've decided to quit it. I have about 1 and 1/2 month's supply left, and then I'm not ordering anymore.
What I really want to do is South Beach. I already have two of the South Beach books. I know one woman who has tried it with little success, and two others currently on it who are having success and like it very much.
But my neighbor recommends Volumetrics. She says it's very similar to South Beach but easier to follow and something that can be followed for life. I'm not sure about that last statement as I don't know why anyone couldn't follow South Beach's maintenance plan once they've met their goal weight.
Has anyone here tried South Beach or Volumetrics, and how did you like it? What did you like/not like about it? Did you have success and was it easy to follow, etc?

I just gave up frapuccinos. Life stinks and I now have a massive headache!!! I should start losing some weight though, they have so much crap in them. I've lost 8 lbs since giving up my fraps!

I have finally really started to lose some weight, 18lbs since I really started watching what I'm eating. I still eat the bad stuff, chocolate & mochas now and then, but I am really trying to make better choices about what I eat. I just really started working out to my exercise videos, walking, and free weights. The weight is coming off faster now. I just continue to modify my habits a little at a time so that it doesn't seem like torture. Instead of looking at the big picture of I have to lose xx amount of weight, I am trying to set little goals, lose a little at a time. The more I lose, the more inspired I become, and the easier it seems to get. My oldest son has noticed a difference, which makes me happy.

My neighbor friend, Carolyn, begins her liquid diet tomorrow in preparation for gastric sleeve surgery in 2 weeks. I decided to start a liquid diet too in solidarity with her. OK, now that I've announced this to y'all, I'm forced to have some success to report. That's a good thing! Wish me luck, please.
