Thanks for the link, Remi
Good lord - Steely Dan should be writing songs, not open letters.
Makes me think they have a crush on Owen.
;D

Good Lord, these guys need to take up knitting or order some good porn off the cable channels at these lovely hotels where they stay......they're spending waaay too much time inside their own heads-a frightening place to be for sure. I found this letter to be pretty funny-yet they still take a few digs at both Owen and Wes. Maybe Owen could come up with some type of letter of his own, or better yet, Ben could ride in on a white horse and send them a witty response, but I guess that would just be baiting them..... Thanks Remi! Beth, looking forward to reading Owen and Wes' response to this ;D

I guess this wraps up the Steely Dan thing...... Concert Preview: Donald Fagen, Steely Dan continue to morph Sunday, August 27, 2006 By Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ...As for people whom Steely Dan is not getting along with, Owen Wilson is at the top of the list. Taking a page from 50 Cent, the Dan actually started a beef with the actor, accusing him of playing a character in the movie "You, Me and Dupree," which they claim was drawn from the song "Cousin Dupree." Fagen and Becker posted an open letter on the Steely Dan Web site to Luke Wilson, Owen's brother, encouraging Owen to apologize to the band and fans at a Steely Dan concert -- and then party with the band. Owen responded with the statement: "I have never heard the song 'Cousin Dupree' and I don't even know who this gentleman, Mr. Steely Dan, is. ... I hope this helps to clear things up and I can get back to concentrating on my new movie, 'Hey Nineteen.'" Even Fagen agrees that was a good comeback from Owen, who is obviously well-versed in the band's hits. Although the party never happened, the media attention was all very out of character for Steely Dan. But one thing is certain: After two decades of stability, and then a long period of inertia, their next move is getting hard to predict. ...........Let's talk about the Wilsons. How serious was your letter to Luke Wilson? I would say it was about lukewarm. What did you think of Owen Wilson's response, and are you going to pursue this further? I thought it was charming and funny. I think probably the original idea for that film had to do with "Cousin Dupree," but it's pretty hard to enforce that kind of idea theft, get any money from that kind of thing. So we figured we'd at least get a laugh out of it. I think he's a very funny actor. I like both of the Wilson brothers.
