i know its just mean. i mean its one thing to sue some one but to expose a scathing letter on their website slandering owen and luke as well...is plain STUPID... it can and WILL be used against them when mediating this case it is also grounds for a counter suit that owen can hit them with and most likely win a case for slander on owen's behalf. it also makes them look like a bunch of mean obnoxious lugs and the courts most likely will not look kindly on one word uttered publicly let alone a long letter that berates and chastizes owen not to mention publicly and openly threatens to basically have him killed by a russian hit man/gangster whatever they have done them selves nothing but harm by posting such BS what a bunch of big (mean) babies someone give them back their pacifiers and blankies wah wahhhhhh wahhhhhhh jerks. ew

There is virtually no link between the movie plot and the song. In the song, "Cousin Dupree" is a drifter who has been away for a long time, and he bunks on his Aunt's sofa, and rediscovers his female cousin, who he played with as a kid, now all grown up and he fancies her. The song is about his attraction to her.
So.......go figure
I think their claim is extremely tenuous at best. If I was Owen I would be placing it straight in the hands of his personal and the studio lawyers, and threats of harm in the hands of the police.
And who the f would want their f-ing crappy merchandise anyway?
That's twice this year that I've gotten mad over BS.

Thanks for that information, booboo. Makes the situation preposterous. It was already ugly, scary, stupid, and uncalled-for.

Idiots. Putting that letter out there just damaged whatever sort of "case" they had to begin with.

Thanks for posting the song lyrics, Librarian. I agree that it is a stretch to make the links between that song and YM&D.
Steely Dan has certainly judged and convicted Owen & the makers of YM&D. And of course, the tabloids & entertainment shows just love a celebrity catfight so this will get coverage.
Hey - maybe the coverage will help increase the box office for both YM&D and SEG? Might as well look for the positive spin in this stuff....

While sitting alone in their crappy Corpus Christi hotel room, they must've been inhaling or imbibing something a little stronger than Earl Grey tea or flat pepsi-cola. That can be the only excuse for such a twisted piece of correspondence. I think you're right on the money there. They sound very paranoid and delusional to me. I wonder if they've even seen the movie ?? Makes me want to run right out and buy their music (or dig out and dust off the CD I do have). #rolleyes#

Well, if Steely Dan (I have no idea who this is by the way - never heard of him/them) really did say those things, then he is a major douche! He threatened Owen (hinted at threatening him physically). Not cool!

no not cool at all to do to anyone famous or not famous it goes against the hippy culture and nature their own music was founded upon its completely disrespectful to them and their generation of music and what it stood for and against they are major tools.

If this lawsuit is for real, it's hard for me to imagine a judge willing to hear it. What do you want to bet it will be tossed out of court? Steely Dan's complaint doesn't even merit a judge's time. Courts have way too many important cases to hear. Changing the subject, WELCOME BACK, TEQUILAROSES! ;D
