Dang, I heard about the top two, but now Dennis Weaver?!! This is too sad!!
I loved Don Knotts, BTW. He was very funny, and seemed like such a sweetheart.

Double posting... but I was thinking about the similarities between these men. I realize they are just coincidences but fun to think about. They were all TV stars - each are very well known for a character they played on TV. They were character actors. All were in their 80's when they died.
Anything I'm missing?

Oh no! I'd only heard about Don Knotts! Good night Nellie! I loved Darren McGavin in "A Christmas Story" even though he was in many, many other movies. My grandmother was a huge fan of Dennis Weaver-he played a policeman who rode a horse I believe. Sad.

Beth, that's right about Dennis Weaver. Actually, he played horse-ridin' TV guys twice: Once as McCleod on "McCleod," which ran for about 3 seasons, and earlier as the sheriff's deputy, Chester, on the very popular, long-running western "Gunsmoke." He was also in some movies.
I knew about the other two, but I only just learned about Dennis Weaver tonight. Very sad news.

Yep -- and Darren McGavin was Kolchak in Nightstalker which X-Files was sort of loosely based on. Furg are you making fun of me?

Well you are forgiven! Just kidding. Your post made me pause - because I was about to add that they all were in Disney productions. And I had hoped they had all done Love Boat, but alas only 2 out of 3.

It's sad to lose all of these guys. In June 2004, my husband had the great fortune to meet Don Knotts. Mr. Knotts was in our area to perform in a Mayberry Reunion stage show. My hub was operating camera during the show. Prior to the performance, my sweetie got to watch the dress rehearsal and then meet Don Knotts. My spouse has met several celebrities, but Don Knotts was by far the highlight of his celebrity experiences.

Christopher Reeve's Widow Dies at Age 44
Dana Reeve, who fought for better treatments and possible cures for paralysis through the Christopher Reeve Foundation, named for her late actor-husband, has died, the foundation said. She was 44.
Reeve died late Monday of lung cancer, said Kathy Lewis, President and CEO of the foundation.
"On behalf of the entire Board of Directors and staff of the Christopher Reeve Foundation, we are extremely saddened by the death of Dana Reeve, whose grace and courage under the most difficult of circumstances was a source of comfort and inspiration to all of us," Lewis said in a statement.
