Oh my goodness. I grew up with Hee Haw. I really liked Buck. "I've Got a Tiger By The Tail". lol And I loved that Buck & Dwight Yoakum doing "Streets of Bakersfield" together. Very sad indeed.

As soon as I read this sad news here, a lyric popped into my head: "Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn. A dinosaur Victrola list'ning to Buck Owens. Doo doo doo..." Looking Out My Back Door, Creedence Clearwater Revival. "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail" is a classic. So is Buck Owens.

the saddest thing for me, and possiably the most injustice, was involving the death of don knotts, and that is they(the acadamy) didn't include him in the montage of celebrity deaths during the oscars.
Or did they? But I blinked when they honored him?

Arik,
They will include Don Knotts next year. The restrospective in this year's ceremony for for celebs we lost in 2005. Next year they'll review the losses from 2006.

Two political "celebrities" - not entertainment - died within 24 hours of each other March 27-28:
Franklyn "Lyn" Nofziger and Caspar Weinberger both served in the Reagan administration.
I just think it's noteworthy that they died so close in time.

Legandary 60s singer Gene Pitney died today Click HereVery sad HH, I heard that this morning he was supposed to be playing Glasgow this weekend too. I absolutely loved his collaboration with Marc Almond, Somethings Gotten Hold Of My Heart.

Gene Pitney was one of the greatest vocalists of the 60's. He sang in a quality not heard today in pop music. His rendition of "I'm Gonna Be Strong" reaches near-operatic level.
Modified to add: Mr. Pitney was also a perfect gentleman. I think it's cool that he is a long-time friend of the Rolling Stones. They met while on tour together of U.K. in 1964.

Oh man, that's sad. Ian was definitely someone you'd seen/read about/heard about if you grew up during the 80's. Very sad.

I'm a big fan of The Breakfast Club...
From Yahoo!News
I also thought he was hysterical in Die Hard.
RIP Mr. Gleason!
