BP - I loved "Dodgeball..." too! I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD/video! ;D
However, while Ben was your man in it - Vince was mine! I just LOVE Vince in that movie! He is so adorable, and Peter LaFleur is a great character for him.
"Dogeball..." is what really made me a Vince fan.
Come on "The Wedding Crashers" - get here soon! Owen & Vince in a buddy comedy! I can't wait!

I saw "The Princess Diaries 2" this afternoon - and it was really good! If you saw & liked the first one, you'll love this one!
I liked the first one a lot - and I thought this one was even better. Julie Andrews is stunning - and looks as flawless as she did in "The Sound of Music". She even sings a little bit in this movie.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who liked the first movie. It's worth the time & money spent.
Another one to add to my DVD collection (along with all those Owen movies). ;D

Has anyone happened to see the movie "Tiptoes" starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Beckinsale? I don't think it was ever in the movie theatre, but I rented it from Blockbuster this past weekend. On the cover it said it was shown at Sundance, and I do remember hearing about it awhile back on ET or something. Anyhow, Matthew McConaughey's character comes from a family of dwarfs. He is the only one who is "normal" size. His twin brother is played by Gary Oldman. Anyhow, without spoiling too much, Kate's character becomes pregnant and they have to deal with the possibility of having a child who might be a dwarf. I have always loved Matthew McConaughey and the characters he plays, but I didn't particularly like him after this movie. Oh well. That only means he was playing his character well! All I have to do is see "The Wedding Planner" or "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and I'll forget all about this movie! ;D

AAV - I've never seen this movie (although, I have heard about it), so what was it that you disliked about Matthew's character?
I'm curious, because I'm a big Matthew fan.

I'm a big Matthew fan, too. That's why I rented the movie. I guess I didn't like his character because he wasn't there for his wife and new son. He couldn't handle that his son was also a dwarf. He just didn't take responsibility, and I didn't like that. However, I don't think Matthew would be like that in real life. I have to remind myself that this was "just a movie."
Hope I'm not spoiling this for anyone who hasn't seen it!

I've only seen this thread now ;D.
These are some of the films I've liked this year.
Lost in Translation (that was this year wasn't it?) I loved it.
Shattered Glass (excellent)
Starsky and Hutch (Owen gets famous)
The Cooler (Good, good ending)
Dodgeball (Hilarious - Ben was "out there", Vince was nicely chilled)
Plus I've seen a few of the Owen films I hadn't seen before like Bottle Rocket, Zoolander and The Shanghai Films.

"Tiptoes" is coming to pay-per-view soon, so maybe I'll see it then.

Before Sunset stars my ideal man apart from Owen, Ethan Hawke.
I've seen Before Sunrise and this was the sequel. The "will they, won't they?" theme continues and Paris looks lovely (where it's set).
I love Ethan Hawke, even if he does look a bit thin and stressed these days, he smiles more in this film than Tom Cruise usually does ;D

Ok...I've kept quiet about Ethan Hawke long enough... Did anybody else see "Taking Lives"? I rented the DVD unrated version a couple weeks ago. Ethan and Angelina have a seduction scene that was absolutely outstanding! I don't know if that was included in the theatrical version, but HOLEY BUCKETS, that's a steamy scene! Ethan is gorgeous!

Remi,
I haven't even heard of that movie. Taking Lives? Is that Angelina Jolie you're talking about?
I've liked Ethan Hawke for years and years. Dead Poets Society, Reality Bites, even Great Expectations -I loved him in that. Is there any other Ethan films you've seen I might not have??
He's a good writer too and a Scorpio!

Yes, "Taking Lives" with Angelina Jolie. Here's a link to the preview and some clips. movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/takinglives.htmlI couldn't find a clip of the part I was talking about...he just has this look on his face, and he's breathing deeply. Turn the sound off if you watch it because somebody had the crazy idea of dubbing in Angelina moaning...and it sounds ridiculous! I've also seen him in "White Fang", "A Midnight Clear", "Alive", and "Gattaca". I haven't seen "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset". But after seeing TL, they are high on my list of movies to watch/rent!!

Thanks, Remi. I've seen all those Ethan films you mentioned, except I don't remember seeing White Fang. I've also seen Snow Falling On Cedars. Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are well worth seeing if you're an Ethan fan. You can see the change in his appearance after nine years.

Hey Remi! I saw "Taking Lives" in the theatre and know EXACTLY the scene you are referring to! I thought this was a pretty good movie.

Remi,
I tried to get Taking Lives out today, but it won't be out in Ireland until Sept 27.
However, I got Girl With A Pearl Earring and thought it was excellant. I'd love to write a book like that, must read the book.
