I can't stand the way Tom Cruise laughs! (My sister and I always try to imitate him.) He thinks everything is so funny and then he just belts out this really hearty laugh. The sad thing is that I really used to like Tom--especially in the days of "Cocktail" and "Top Gun." Oh well. It seems like something happened to him and he lost that appeal. (Scientology??) He's ALWAYS on TV lately and now he's looking for that special someone again. Did anyone see the interview on ET where he was asked if he'd ever get back with Nicole?? He had a really hard time answering the question.
"Open Waters" opened in LA and New York this weekend and opens nationwide August 20th. I just heard that on TV.

I'd love to be "that special someone" who knocks the chip off his shoulder! Did I say that?! He's so frustrating because it seems like there is a real human being under there...why does he need to act like that?! Thanks for the news on "Open Waters"! I'm gonna look for that one on the 20th!

Since this has provoked my curiosity, I looked up the premise of "Open Water". As soon as I read it, I was reminded of a featured article on MSN (I have MSN set as my homepage). It was about eerie real-life happenings where people have disappeared and/or died under mysterious and/or odd circumstances. One of the stories was about scuba divers that were stranded off the coast of Australia (in the Great Barrier Reef - or just outside of it). So I looked it up, and this movie is indeed based on that same story I read about. I've searched for that article (because it had a lot of other interesting stories too, but to no avail). I did however find some other articles that are similar and interesting. Here are a couple of links: www.undercurrent.org/UCnow/articles/OuterEdge9810.shtmlwww.mensjournal.com/adventure/0408/survival_diving.htmlIf I find that other article, I'll be sure to post it.

Yeah..I was looking up releases on newn movies at work and it said "Open Water" was on Limited Release right now. So, it's probably only playing in big cities. I hope my theater gets the movie cuz I really hate paying for movies lol

Angie, I used to work at a movie theater, and even after I started hating the work, I still did it for months just so that I could see free movies. I can totally agree with you.

Linn, how did you like working in a theater? I'm getting totally burnt out on it...this is my 4th year at my theater and I'm really getting sick of the customers lol. Thank God I'm getting a vacation starting on Saturday

If you're going to see "Open Water", take some Dramamine first. You could probably use a nap anyways, right?
I thought is was OK, husband thought it was AWFUL. The ending is really bad... I keep having to remind myself it was BASED on a true story.

If anyone is interested (or not) in "Anaconda: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid", here is an interesting link with a short write-up. movies.go.com/upcoming/Hmmmm - that "snake orgy in the jungle" comment seems like it's attempting to mimic O's "jungle makes you horny" comment from the first film. Now who was silly enough to think that O's one-liner delivery can be topped? ;D

I saw "Open Water" today. Actually, I thought it was pretty good. The music they played really put you on edge. I think it was a little scarier than your basic Jason and Freddy movies because it's something that can actually happen! I felt really uneasy after seeing it and it's a good thing I'm not planning any trips to the ocean soon. It didn't end like I thought it would either.

Oooh! I forgot that the best part of seeing this movie was seeing a preview of "The Life Aquatic" with Owen! I can't wait until it comes out!

Oooh! I forgot that the best part of seeing this movie was seeing a preview of "The Life Aquatic" with Owen! I thought it would be a nice touch to see TLA preview before the movie. I mentioned to my husband that "maybe they'll show the preview for TLA..." when the lights went down. He whispered, "The what?". I replied, "The new Wes Anderson movie." Well, he seemed very impressed. Then he said, "Who's Wes Anderson?". He thought I had a crush on someone new. He was probably relieved. But, it didn't last... I said, "Ya know, he wrote TRT with Owen Wilson... Oh yeah! Owen is in TLA too!" Then his eyes began to roll. I haven't told him yet that I've already made plans for Christmas Day. ;D We weren't lucky enough to see the preview before "Open Water". That would have been perfect though. Here's a link to some upcoming movies... www.nydailynews.com/front/story/224119p-192539c.html

I saw "Dodgeball" today (It only just came out over here! - That's why I am not posting on this thread often! I love movies but they come out here around the time you guys have forgotten about them ). I loved it for BEN. Am I the only one who thought he was so cute when he got banged onto the wall by Christine Taylor? I thought Ben in "Dodgeball" was so cute and very funny. His movements had all the subtle funny quality. And I think Ben is one of the best looking actors in Hollywood. So cute. I saw him on TV the other day and I thought, "OMG his face is so cute!". And he is a great director. I laugh so hard when I watch "The Cable Guy". And I cry when I watch "Reality Bites". I think I am now going over to the "Our Favorite Celebrities" thread to talk about Ben ;D
