Another tip: the LA airport is one of the worst to fly in and out of regarding security and just the number of folks that fly through there. So be there at least 2 hours before your flight when you are leaving LA. I've gotten to where I show up just an hour beforehand - but not in LA. Ha ha, its funny you say that. I told Cher that and she was like OMG! What are we gonna do. She is more freaked out by the flying than I am. One other thing that concerns me is getting lost in the airport. LOL. I am such a ditz and I told Cher that we will just watch where everybody else is going and if we do get lost, which I'm sure we will, we will ask somebody. I mean we aren't men after all.

Bon Voyage Linney and cruise Santa Monica for the rest of us. Remember he rides a bike, so don't accidentally drive up some poor blond cyclist's backside.... There are better ways to "make an impression" on the guy without the tire tracks... Have a wonderful time!

Ok, there is absolutely no way that I can put a full week's worth of stuff into one thread. So instead I will post what we did one day at a time. That way we can keep up the suspense as well. On Sunday night Cher and I were so excited that we didn't get to sleep until after 2 am. This wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't have to be back up at 4. The alarm went off and I surprisingly sprang out of bed. It's a two hour trip to Dulles, through all the traffic in Northern Virginia. I began to freak out every time that traffic slowed. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare and I was amazed at the security. It seemed aweful simple to me, but I have always heard people talk about how terrible it was. Perhaps we were just lucky. Flying was definitely an experience that can't be put into words. When we took off I felt like my brain was swishing around in my head. LOL. However it was definitely exciting, and I wasn't nearly as nervous as I thought I would be. I even managed to fall asleep for an hour or so. But perhaps that was more due to the fact that I had only had an hour and a half of sleep the night before. The only bad thing about the flight was there was a 40+ flight attendant who insisted on talking to us. He kept telling us about all of the places that he thought we should go. After about ten minutes of him standing there we were quite unnerved. LOL. We referred to him as "scary guy" the rest of our trip. ;D We landed in L.A. at 10:56 local time. I was amazed because at noon we had gotten our baggage, shuttled to Enterprise, and were pulling out of the parking lot in our Nissan Sentra (man did I grow to love that car in just a week! ) We spent a couple of hours just driving around and getting aquainted with the area. We headed up through Malibu and almost immediately recognized the beach from a scene in Gigli. (Two of the eight people who saw the movie nationwide, had finally realized the value of their eight dollars! ). That was when it really hit me that we were in L.A. As we headed back towards Santa Monica we saw a filming of what we believe was a commercial. It really could have been anything though. After we checked into our hotel and unpacked our things we headed out for dinner and a stroll. We ended up on the Santa Monica Pier. It is absolutely beautiful over there. The beach is amazing and I was thrilled because I instantly recognized a scene from one of my favorite movies-Love Stinks! We called it an early night on Monday because we were just so exhausted and totally excited about what lay in store for the rest of the week.....

Tuesday morning Cher and I were still on Eastern time so we woke up around 6:00. We had booked a tour for that morning of celebrities homes. We were on the bus and ready to go by 9:00. Our tour guide, Dan, was superb. He showed us the 7 eleven where Hugh Grant picked up his "friend" as well as the Sak's door where Winona Rider was nailed. He pointed out Brad Pitt's favorite eatery along with Winona's. We saw Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt's current house. They are renting this one, while they continue to remodel their other new one in Beverly Hills. They pay an astounding $17,000 rent a month! We also saw their new house, and the homes of Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Johnny Depp, Cher's mother, John Travolta, Elvis, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Drew Barrymore, Toby McGuire, Avril Levine, Keanu Reeves, and far more than to remember. We also saw the homes used in Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Father Knows Best, Halloween, and the first Freddy Krueger movie! After the tour we headed to West Hollywood and Grauman's Chinese Theater. We saw the forecourt of the stars and I was amazed to find that Jack Nicholson has insanely small feet! There was a guy trying to sell these silly cement replicas who asked me who my favorite actor was. When I replied that it was Owen he asked if I had seen Starsky & Hutch. I told him that I had infact seen it four times and that got a huge look of shock. I was totally excited when I spotted Drew Barrymore's star. Outside of the theater there were people dressed up like Harry Potter, Marilyn Monroe, Sylvester the Cat, and Elmo. It was very interesting. We strolled down the strip and checked out the Egyptian theater and El Capitan. We also went into the Highland Complex (which houses the Kodak Theater). Unfortunately the Kodak Theater wasn't conducting tours on this particular day. I was extatic when I found Jackie Chan's star. I walked ALL the way around it to insure that I managed to stand in the exact same spot as Owen had. We ate lunch at Mel's Diner. Back in the 70's a television show, Alice, was filmed there. We continued down the strip. At the Roosevelt Hotel we stopped long enough to pose for pictures with the statue of Charlie Chaplin. ;D On the street a guy was handing out tickets to the next day's taping of the Craig Kilborn Show. That evening we went out onto the 3rd Street Promenade. It was an interesting place. There are some nice shops and eateries. I was pleased because I found a great purse I had been looking for out there and it was only $15.00! The only down side of the Promenade is that it is impregnated with homeless people. We were walking down the way minding our own business when one of the homeless men started going on a rampage aimed at us. That was slightly upsetting, but not enough to force us off the street. We tried to stay up long enough that night to see who would be on Kilborne the next day but fell asleep long before he came on.....
