#welcome# Lene, from me too! As far as movies and westerns for Luke go, maybe someone could do a movie adaptation of Bonanza with Andrew, Owen, and Luke as the three Cartwright brothers. It would have to be very different though as I don't see Andrew as Adam Cartwright and even less do I see Owen as Hoss Cartwright!! Although I could picture Luke as a Little Joe. I know it's a terrible idea and movie adaptations of TV shows don't have a real successful history (remember The Beverly Hillbillies, The Dukes of Hazard, and Dallas which never happened; Starsky & Hutch being an exception). It's just the only thing I could think of at the moment. ;D

He could play my husband, I wouldn't have any problem with that at all #biglol#

For that matter Star, he could play my brother in-law, of course Owen would be my husband.

Well, that means Owen is practicing bigamy since he's already my husband.

Oddly, I'm OK with that. #hmm# #devil#

Well, if we're going for remakes how about an adaptation of The Three Musketeers, but set in the West? If you set it in Utah around the turn of the century the polygamy won't even be a problem . . . #whistle#

That does sound interesting indeed... If the Wilson's could switch off on wives in this polygamist compound, could the wives also switch off on which Wilson they wanted? Just wondering?

Ok, now this polygamist wife-swapping, Wilson-swapping movie is starting to sound like one of the ahem, adult films that "Middle Men" is based upon. Not that there's a problem with that, but it may be harder to find funding than "White Widow." Maybe we should re-set it more along the lines of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" with the guys either playing multiple roles or filling the gaps with the rest of the Frat Pack?

Miss Peace, I hear you. #yeahthat#
Ok, back to the Polygamy drawing board. But, I like the Old West Setting. We know Owen can pull off surfer cowboy, Luke looks good even with bad teeth (a la 3:10 to Yuma) and Andrew did his turn as Farmer Father. I'm not familiar enough with "Bonanza" to judge those roles.

Surfer cowboy? Dallas meets Hawaii? #donottell# What Luke should NOT do are women centric romcoms where he has small insignificant roles like Legally Blonde. The movie was good, but Luke's talent was wasted. He should start doing more Wes movies and write more.

Hi there Lene, nice to meet you #wink# So I was thinking that if they ever decided to remake "It's a Wonderful Life" that Luke would be great in the Jimmy Stewart part. What do you guys think?

I totally agree with SP in regard to Luke doing women-centric movies. His talent is wasted - although such movies do provide the opportunity to watch and listen to him.
I'm OK with sharing my imaginary husband, Owen, with my Wilsonette sisters. ;D
Remaking a classic like It's A Wonderful Life is like trying to duplicate perfection. But if anyone was to attempt it, I think Luke is a good and interesting choice for the part of George Bailey.

I honestly like Luke in quirky, offbeat comedies. I like it where he's the normal guy amidst other weird, strange, or silly characters. I wonder if he has a preference in real life as to what kinds of roles he likes to play.

Seems like Luke has really wanted to spread his wings from where he started and seemed to have stayed for a while. Seems like he was "stuck" in the same kind of roles playing the same kind of "normal" guy ( Home Fries, Old School) amid the craziness of others, or playing "the dependable boyfriend" ( Legally Blonde, Charlie's Angels). In other words, playing other characters' "sidekick." Nice to see Luke has branched out and been entrusted with more challenging roles in different genres: horror ( Vacancy) and drama ( Henry Poole Is Here). Even better to see he has excelled in these more mature roles. In fact, I think he has done an even better acting job at them than with the older parts he has played. Or else he has just improved with age and experience. Makes me wonder what he'll try next but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Edited to add: Just re-read this thread from Page 1 and noticed AlsoAVirgo totally predicted Vacancy....heroic Luke saving his family. And AlsoAVirgo isn't even here anymore to notice. Sniff. I wonder if she ever did see Vacancy and recalled her posting from 2004.
