I got the DVD of TLA this week and watched the movie last night I quite enjoyed it, having seen a couple of other Wes films I knew roughly what to expect but it seems alot of people don't really 'get' it, I suppose his films are a bit of what you might call an acquired taste! See I post reviews of films/DVDs among other things on a site called Ciao (which is really good since you earn money from getting good ratings when other members rate your reviews, I've got £24 in my account so far hee) and I decided since I hadn't really reviewed anything in a week or so, that I'd give it a crack to review the film and when I searched for other reviews, there was only one other really positive one... maybe its just me and my kind of 'funny' sense of humour but I practically laughed looking at the most negative review, it reminded me of a friend at school who complained about the Truman Show because Jim Carrey wasn't funny in it. I'd seen that film and quite liked it and said but you should have read about it before you saw it, its a different kind of movie not Ace Ventura! lol though I guess its kind of different with his films they are labelled as comedies, thats not to say their not funny at all but people seem to expect them to be slapstick I guess probably because of the other movies Owen has been in I guess... anyway for some reason I found it funny, on that really negative review it states:- make that 2 discs to throw! even better value for money! lol j/k!! I guess im being snobby rolling my eyes at people like that, I think that people should read about a movie to know before seeing it whether to expect it to be a laugh a minute kind of a comedy or a different kind *shrug* but everyones entitled to their own opinions of course and if anyones interested, my user name on Ciao is IzzyS, you can find the reviews here if you wanna look:- dvd.ciao.co.uk/The_Life_Aquatic_Two_Discs__6261448this is my review, if anyone wants to read it:- dvd.ciao.co.uk/The_Life_Aquatic_Two_Discs__Review_5707071I also tried to do a review on Bottle Rocket today, though tbh I didn't feel like I did that much justice, im a bit of a perfectionist with my review writing and got hazy about a few details but ive got some nice ratings and a good comment so far so guess its not too bad (the reason I decided to try and review the films is that a guy left a comment in my Ciao! guestbook asking when I'd be posting a new review, I'm getting fans! OMG lol im so lucky . Anyway *ahem* I did quite enjoy the movie was it CGI used, on the exotic sea creatures? and the ocean bed scenes? they were great...
