Is TLA disappearing from your theaters? I was looking at the paper today & noticed that out of the 10 or so area theaters that TLA was playing in, only 2 of them are still showing it. It's dropping off the radar! I was shocked, to say the least. Wondered if this was happening anywhere else.

It just arrived today at the theatre across the St Clair River in Port Huron, MI, and I don't think I can go tonight, but I am aiming for tomorrow! Just in case anything like that would happen, I''m not taking any chances! That is really a bummer, though, how can it make money if it's being pulled early and not even coming to alot of theatres?? Oh well, I'm sure we'll all be buying and renting the DVD, and the reporters will notice that! I hope Wes is happy with the results! I hope he feels proud of his movie and is not down that some of the reviews are snotty. We all love you Wes!!!!!!!!

Is TLA disappearing from your theaters? Wondered if this was happening anywhere else. Well let's see in my little corner of Hicksville, USA- the radar shows two snowmen, four cows and a paperboy frozen in the snow. I think the theaters around here are still featuring Rocky IV and the only copy of the DVD of the month "The Sound of Music"[/b] is still rented out to one of the five people who own a DVD player. I have to wait my turn- How I envy any of you who just get to see a movie poster with TLA on it!! The last yellow submarine I've seen was on the Beatles album cover circa 1968...HurlT ;D

Keep laughing my Brazilian Buddy- I still live closer than yourself- if I dare brave the -44 degrees windchill and a 100 mile drive to get closer to Ned Plimpton... I will so embark, if I get desperate. While you are sweating in South America, chica, I am freezing here in a turtleneck/ski sweater combo and dreaming about all three Wilson Brothers in far-far less winter wear in front of a roaring fire... -- That in mind we will create our own sound of music in a rustic hidden cabin... HT ;D

Finally found another great TLA interview! I LOVE the last line.......................
Reel Review 'Life Aquatic' offers quirky humor
Review by Chris McCauley Intrigue Staff
January 20, 2005 It seems like nowadays everyone wants to be Wes Anderson. Unfortunately, only Anderson, who directed “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Rushmore,” can successfully deliver endless detail, quirky color schemes, off-beat dialogue and a soundtrack that will bring tears to any indie rock fan’s eyes.
His new film, “The Life Aquatic,” is his most violent and depressing offering to date.
Anderson’s style still oozes from the film’s tone, but get ready to be surprised by the new territory he explores in “The Life Aquatic.”
The film focuses on Steve Zissou, played by Bill Murray. He is a failing oceanographer whose documentaries have become the laughing stock of the marine biology world.
His last hope of gaining respect (and peace of mind) is by killing the mysterious jaguar shark that ate his friend.
Zissou prepares to set sail on his hunt, but not before introducing us to his crew. Angelica Houston plays Zissou’s chain-smoking wife.
She’s the brains behind every expedition, but her marriage to Steve is beginning to feel the strain of the open sea.
Willem Dafoe plays Zissou’s most dedicated ship hand, Klaus.
There’s only one problem: he never gets picked for the A-team. Klaus’ childlike jealousy and endless admiration toward Steve is where most of the film’s laughs come from.
The newest member of Team Zissou is Ned (Owen Wilson). He is supposedly Steve’s long lost son, but no one is completely sure.
His position on Team Zissou upsets most of the crew, but it is Steve’s attempt at reaching out to Ned. Maybe he’s trying to make up for a 30-year absence from Ned’s life.
The film deals with revenge, failure and misery. Steve’s life has become a failure, and he knows it.
He tries to reach out to Ned in hopes of making up for his mistakes.
Unfortunately, both Ned and Steve fall in love with a journalist, played by the gorgeous Cate Blanchett.
The love triangle comes to a head in typical Anderson fashion and everyone ends up miserable in the end.
Murray’s performance in the film is a great departure from his fantastic role in “Lost in Translation.”
He is sad and lost throughout much of the film.
I have not seen Murray portray this new kind of depression, except in “The Royal Tenebaums.”
Owen Wilson manages to show a new side of his acting skills. His fake Southern accent and humble personality make him an easy target for sympathy.
This performance should one day earn Wilson a Golden Globe.
Anderson has once again managed to make another miraculous film. The cast is fantastic and the soundtrack is perfect.
Who knew David Bowie’s “Starman” could sound so great in Portuguese?
This film will leave you in an indescribable mood

Wooooops, now I'm double posting! Oh well. this is a little review of TLA that I wrote at the Cornell Daily Sun website because there were no reviews there! And I wanted to share it with you all! (little bit embarrassed.........)
Oh, forgot to add........TLA gets 5 out of 5 Crayon Pony Fish Ratings!!!!!!!!!!!.........................................................................................
Posted 01/25/2005 I saw The Life Aquatic and I loved it!!! It is a beautiful, caring movie and will be well loved for years and years to come.
Alot of critics seem to love to put it down, saying it isn't as good as Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums, but it is every bit as good. The performances in this movie were spot on and full of caring and hilarity!! Wes Anderson has his own wonderful, quirky way of making movies, and you need to think and delve underneath the deadpan delivery to find the compassion and the respect for life.
The soundtrack is wonderful, and with a joy of life reminiscent of Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. Wes has a great taste in music, with songs that give you a pleasant little punch to the heart that makes you sit up and take notice.
Critics have criticized Bill Murray for never smiling - but that is rather a signature look for Wes's characters. I agree that it is rather off-putting the first time you see a Wes Anderson movie - we are used to guaging people on their smile, but with Wes you need to watch the acting, and listen to The Words, to find the love that is welling underneath.
The hero of The LIfe Aquatic is Owen Wilson. His understated performance is the rock that this movie is built upon. The movie is not ABOUT Steve Zissou - it is about relationships, just like all of Wes's movies. Wes's movies highlight the fact that people can be cruel, selfish, and yet be forgiven for that and loved anyway. That is the beauty. Don't we all long for relationships like that? Where we can be forgiven for the awful things we do, intentionally or Unintentionally, and be loved anyway? Too often in this world, once we blow it, we don't get a second chance. Wes Anderson's movies offer not only second chances, but thirds and fourths..............
Love is the underlying theme in Wes's movies, and The Life Aquatic has that in spades. You just have to find it. The Love in The Life Aquatic is based around the gentle, helping, forgiving character of Ned Plimpton. Ned is what makes the world go around, stay afloat.
And that is the goal in life, is it not? We all just need to find Love.

This is my absolute favorite Wes Anderson film. I just love the music, the plot, and Owen and Bill are mighty cute in this too! Does anybody else like the music 'Neds Theme'? In the submarine, Steve presses the radio and says 'Neds theme, take one.' then electronica comes on. Its such a gorgeous song. Its so moving. It's on for half the submarine ride, then he flicks it off. But, I have noticed it in many other parts of the movie. One part is when Jane first makes her apperience, and when Steve falls down the stairs. Does anybody know which other parts it comes on at?
Also, Wes always includes someone in their underwear in a movie. I don't consider speedos underwear, so who's in their underwear? I always thought it was Ned in his boxers, when he walks in on Jane reading her book to her baby?

Welcome to the board, Mugatu! Your english is very good. Don't worry about it! And I agree, Willem Dafoe did a great job. I love when he was near the helicopter with Ned. "Y-Your not listening!" Just his face and the way he says it is just funny.
