Thank you, Natalie! In fact, I will be submitting something, thanks to you. I know I'll have tough competition - especially if others from this board submit essays too.

I'd have to retreat to some cave and hide if I aired all of the beguiling details of my past. It'd be better if it was a fiction contest, although, sometimes real life can be stranger than fiction.

I see that many people here like to write.
Are any of you published? I'd like to get back to writing and think I will enter this contest.
I'm not published myself, but wouldn't it be great if someone from here won?
Do any of you have writer sites that you would suggest?
Thank you

Hello and welcome Jazzy! Good luck with your writing! I think peakindarien and venusinscorpio have their writing works published. Possibly we have more members who are published.

I am not expecting to win, but it was somewhat exciting to enter and believe that there is a possibility of winning. I don't know what you write, but here are a couple I like. Yes, I'm entering both the contests - the 2,500 word and the 750 word contest.
I don't know about winning or even runner-up, but it's enough fun just to enter.
I do have a question though for other contestants: How did you count the words in your documents? Will spell check do a word count for you?

Will spell check do a word count for you? i'm not a contestant, but i do know how you can count the words: if you have Microsoft Word, open your document, go to Tools > Word Count. It will give you a list of possibilities, such as pages, words, characters w/ & w/o spaces, paragraphs, etc. the word count itself is pretty accurate. I hope this helps! (I don't know about Mac users, though..but if you'd like, i can find out!)

:)Greetings Jazzy...I entered the contest. I am not expecting to win, but it was somewhat exciting to enter and believe that there is a possibility of winning. I don't know what you write, but here are a couple I like. [ftp]http://www.scriptsales.com[/ftp] and www.thewritersmentor.comI subscribe to free newsletters on both those sites Thank you for the info. Currently, I've been doing freelance editing for a children's publisher in my city. It pays next to nothing, but figure it may lead to additional work. I would like to write creatively and tend toward humorous/sardonic essays based on everyday events. I've been scouring The Writer's Market and have sent two manuscripts in the last couple of weeks. One was to a parenting magazine and the other to a special interest bi-monthly. Both have response times of several months I'm about 1/2 done w/ my entry for the Glamour contest. It's a witty (I hope!) look @ my childhood and how it was shaped by a revolving door of people brought together by the multiple marriages in our family. I'd LOVE to read anything that you guys are willing to post! Good luck to all!!
