I was just wondering, if anyone else had family and/or friends living or staying in Florida during the hurricane? My brother lives in Cape Coral and stayed home during it. He said, "It was like being in a tornado for hours!". Luckily, he only had damage to a few shingles, the gutters, and some trees. No one on his street has any lanais left. The electric was back on today but, he had to throw out all of the food in his fridge and freezer. He was not very happy about losing all the squid he had in his freezer. At least, he was able to go to the store today and get more food. One of his boats at the marina in Fort Myers had the top torn off but, it was still floating! One bright side to the storm is that he is the only marine electrician on the west coast of Florida south of Sarasota. From the photos I've seen, he'll have more than enough work lined up for a long while! One comment he made was that there are people from all over helping out. He was touched by that. I'm sure he sends a big "Thank You!" out to anyone who has helped or donated anything!!!!

I have a friend in Englewood, FL. That's Sarasota County - next door to Charlotte County which was Ground Zero. My friend & her husband stayed in their house too; they didn't evacuate. Miraculously, they and all their posessions are intact. They only lost electric power. Her husband is a master carpenter so he's assured to get lots of work very soon - just as he did after Hurricane Andrew.
