The scene on the boat was an extremely steamy one btwn Owen & Kate in YM&D!! Why can't they put Luke in a scene like that? Although that look he gave Kate Beckinsale in Vacancy when they were sitting on the bed in the hotel room before the knocking started was memorable (at least to me).

I saw INTOLERABLE CRUELTY today... I wanted to see it mostly becuz it stars two of my favourite actors, George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones Douglas. And #wow# the movie is simply awesome. MY kind of humour. George Clooney surprised me - I never expected him to be so funny...and Catherine was stunning(one of the very few ladies, according to me, who can really match up to Clooney's sexiness). I cant believe I haven't seen any other Coen Brothers movie...well that's one of my new summer goals now....but seriously, the movie is brilliant!

Thanks, SP. That sounds good!
It's not a new movie but I saw Click on TV last night. As an Adam Sandler movie, it had the usual bathroom humor but it was also exceptionally sweet, I thought. It brought It's A Wonderful Life to mind. I hope I haven't offended anyone with that comparison, but it was just that sweet and emotional. A man (Sandler) gets to re-evaluate his life and priorities.

Yes, thank you SP, i havent seen that yet, i´ll have to check it out. Speaking of Coen brothers, i saw no country for old men some time ago and REALLY loved it. Javier Bardem = #bow# ! (well, he is very creepy in it, but great) Tex, i liked Click too. I can see your It´s a wonderful life comparison. Same theme in a way in both of them.

Speaking of Owen and sexy looks, there is a scene in Drillbit Taylor when Owen is a teacher & is really into a female teacher, and he gives her the sexiest & naughtiest look....like he wants to devour her right there!! It is soooo hot!!!

Leslee, what a coincidence! Owensplay, is that the scene where Owen says: "English....my native tongue" and gives her a knowing look? I love that face he makes!!

It comes a little bit after the 'native tongue' dialog. I think it's when they are on the couch in the Teacher's lounge. He squints his eyes & gives her that...look.

I totally agree with you! If looks could kill... Yeah, I actually looked up the scene last night. It's a little bit before chapter 9. They are on the couch and the female teacher says "you look like you could accomplish a lot in 4 minutes" and Owen says "5 minutes might be 4 too many", and then squints & gives her the killer look!! It is such a cute scene!!

Though I've only just now arrived home from watching Revolutionary Road, I feel it's the kind of movie that sticks with you for a long time. I'm not even sure why that would be so except for the terrific acting. I don't see how it gets any better than the performances of Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio in this one - or their supporting cast.
The story is about honesty, dealing with crossroads in one's life, knowing one's self, communication and conflict, and conflict resolution - or lack thereof. It's about knowing your own dreams, someone else's, and the wisdom to know the difference to quote an old phrase.
It was interesting to gauge my reaction to the couple's arguments: I could see both their points of view.
The setting is a 1950's middle-class suburban couple, bored with their lives. Maybe it's because of the influence of we Baby Boomers but there seems to be an emerging number of TV and film dramas taking place in the 1950's where, until lately, had been a decade that hadn't been dealt with very much. They all seem to have a common theme: [white] middle-class conventions and restrictions of the time. I was just a kid then and not living an adult life, so I can't say for certain if life was any more restrictive then than now - especially for women. I know women had far fewer choices then but I'm not sure if they had any fewer choices then than they did at any earlier decade. And there were racial and ethnic barriers but, again, they were no worse in the 1950's than they had been earlier.
Watching the movie was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me as I recognized all the trappings: the clothing, the furniture, colors, cars, the women in hats & gloves. I remember the business men dressing pretty much alike then as my Dad wore that same "uniform": the suit & tie and fedora hat. My grandma & grandpa had a Buick just like that of Leonardo & Kate. I remember the trademark Buick "port holes."
I hadn't known how this movie ends but it became pretty certain how it would not end. There was no comic relief lines or comic relief characters. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good drama well-acted.
Edited to add: As you've probably guessed, it's no accident this couple lived on Revolutionary Road. The name is fitting for the theme of the movie.

I finally got around to watching the third mummy movie last night. We watched it in blue ray on the high def tv, which was nice. The special effects were good, and the movie was entertaining. I would say that it was more of the same old thing from the first two though, nothing special. I think it would have been more exciting to have watched it in the movie theater. I do have a bit of a thing for Brendan Fraser, so that was a plus, but no Oded as Tex indicated.
