Sorry guys, but I'm still here.
No need to apologize. I agree with you two previous. I think what you two are getting at is the diversion of attention going on. The pledge of allegiance, the loss of the Ten Commandments monument are diversionary things. We've got serious issues that need serious people addressing them.
One of those issues, other than the appalling war against Iraq, is the loss of freedom. The waste of resources in Iraq though does tie in with those things. If Pres. Bush were truly concerned with terrorism, he would have spent the $87 billion wasted in Iraq and put it into beefing up security here at home. What about our seaports, trains? Remember Container Bob? And we would have continued the war against al-Queda. Remember al-Queda? I thought that is what the post-9/11 war was all about. Somehow it got diverted to Iraq. Bush has only endangered us all the more by not sticking with al-Queda.
What about upgrading the power grid in the NE? What if the power had gone out when it was sub-zero weather? It's just lucky it happened in August and not in January.
Now Bush wants to amend the Constitution with a prohibition against gay marriage. I don't mean to offend conservatives, but does that issue deserve an amendment? Is an amendment what we need to focus on right now... an issue that we need to divide ourselves on right now? Is anyone kept awake all night because gays are marrying?
Remember Bush's State of the Union address in January? The one health issue he chooses to speak about is - steroids. STEROIDS? Like that's a national crisis? What about obesity? That's a HUGE crisis. I know because I am obese. And I don't mean 'huge' as a pun, although it's kind of clever, don't you think?
Just trying to put a little levity into things... Why? I dunno.
