I don't know about you guys but I'm getting pretty excited that the third LOTR movie is coming out really soon.
I live in Wellington, New Zealand so it's an extra special occasion for us down here. First of all, Peter Jackson is my home town hero, and secondly, the World premiere is being held here next Monday! We've never had anything "world" here before, or anything this huge and glitzy, it's completely amazing.
We had the Australasian premieres for the first two movies here and they were really something. Red carpet and stars and media. But this time it's going to be even bigger. They're planning parades and everything!
Of course, all you Americans will be used to this kind of thing, but I'm just a simple Kiwi girl far removed from Hollywood. It's going to be a great day as we're all very proud of the movies ;D
Are you going to join the melee Kumar?

It's the little things I love too. Last year I saw Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd walking up Willis Street like normal people In MY Wellington. Not often these two worlds coincide. I was at a cafe eating lunch and they walked right on past. Instantly recognisable, but mostly being ignored (we kiwis can be kinda shy ).

You're going to the premiere?!!! As in into the Embassy with all the stars?! No. Way. Quick, elaborate! How on earth did you get tickets?! Or are you someone important and I just don't know it? hehe. And while I think of it, why didn't we petition Owen and Luke to come down for the premiere? It's a big enough event, maybe they'd even have considered it

Yeah! I know what ya mean I was at the Rugby the All Blacks vs England game and Elijah wood was there just sitting at a table drinking a beer in the same lounge section as me - and like no one went up to him - everybody was too busy screaming at the ref as I recall to notice him (he was a crap ref by the way) anyways it was kinda like oh yeah theres my friend and the guy I work with and over there is that hobbit guy hmmm how weird ( "one of these things just doesn't belong here, one of these things aint kinda the same....")

Yeah, I heard he was at that game. I read in the newspaper that he supported England! Quick, where's the lynching mob? Completely unsubstantiated, but the rumour goes that because he is friends with so many English people from filming (ie, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, etc) that he'd begun supporting their team. I was like, but NZ gave you so much more! lol. I suppose he'll be happy now though as England won the rugby world cup. PS. Sorry for the double post up there, I was getting carried away

You can't move in this town (Wellington) with seeing something to do with Lord of the Rings!! The National Airline has "painted" up a couple of planes with Lord of the Rings scenes They are serving the tea and coffee in cups with pictures of the characters on them The terminal has a huge sculpture of Gollum set up to look like he is climbing over the main terminal! Inside there are original costumes etc on display as you walk through to the baggage claim All the Light Poles that line the main streets in the City have banners on them of the main characters NZ Post just put out LOTR stamps - Ian Mckellen said he will send all his Christmas cards from here so he can use the Gandalf stamps The Cinema where the premiere will be held, has a huge Flying Nazgul with a black rider "aboard" on it's roof that can be seen from quite a distance (it's really cool btw) The Newspapers have pictures of the various cast members arriving every day and the television news shows are "wall to wall" with interviews. Viggo Mortensen has just opened an exhibition of his photography here (mostly of photos he has taken whilst living in New Zealand) and has been wandering around town on foot a lot. And now for the big news! He came in with some people I didn't recognise to have a coffee at a cafe I was in today. No one approached him at first, New Zealanders aren't very comfortable with going up to celebrities, but the waitress was having a bit of a canyption and he was very nice and down-to-earth and very unassuming. Just before I left a young girl maybe 13 or 14 went up to him and he gave her an autograph and was very cool about it I saw an interview with him where he said that he loves New Zealand and has made it his home base when not working on projects that require him to be elsewhere. He has been here for four years now. He said he loves the climate (our climate kinda sucks btw) He said it was fascinating -ok so the man finds a 100km an hour wind fascinating! I guess it's nice to know someone enjoys it - personally I could live without our wind He has a great sense of humour and the interviewer remarked tht because of his strong political beliefs they had thought he would be more serious but he has a very cool philosophy on life and although he has very strong beliefs he also appreciates the need to laugh at life and at himself. He talked a bit about his acting, photography and poetry and how they all come from the same place - his need for artistic self-expression. He is wearing his hair very very short and looks older than in the movies but on the whole he is a very hot and very nice dude!!! Thought I would share that with any Viggo fans! Songbird - I'll keep my eyes peeled for Craig Parker ok

Last night I went to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra concert of the Lord of the Rings music. Howard shore, the composer, conducted it. It was absolutely amazing. I've never been so impressed and over awed in my life. The music was absolutely beautiful live. I 'm a bit of a musician myself and have been to many concerts, but I've never been as moved as I was last night. Howard Shore is a true genius. If you add it all up, he's written over 12 hours of music for the movies. The soundtrack has been adapted into six movements for live performance, perfectly presented so that you can hear the themes develop and change. I play the piano and the guitar and am a classically trained singer, last night was heaven for me so I hope you'll forgive the gushing! Peter Jackson and a lot of the cast was there too, which was neat. I spent the intermission standing behind John Rhys-Davies, he was signing a few autographs but I didn't ask for one myself. It made me realise that since we were at the same event they must all be normal people too, and I mean that in a good way!
