Thank you for the information, bunnypanda. You'd think that I, being a cytotechnologist, would have learned the metric system years ago. But, since I'm not involved in specimen preparation, I don't use metric; therefore, I still haven't learned it. That's nothing I'm proud of not knowing!

Hey there T-gal- I originally went to college planning on getting a Med Tech degree and my roommate/friend was going to school to be a counselor. I took a full battery of core MT classes and into my second trimester, found myself in a Zoology night lab looking at wheat rust spores through a microscope. Revelation struck me like a lightening bolt- THIS WAS NOT FOR ME. I went and dropped all of the MT classes the next day and my mother couldn't talk to me without crying, the rest of the term. Strangely enough, my roommate and my careers flip-flopped and she's the cytotech. As for me- I would like nothing better than to get Owen or Luke prone on a couch, analyzing the whys and why nots of: Owen's next film role OR Luke's next buzz cut... HT

HT, Oh that's a great story. It's a good thing to discover EARLY one's strengths & weaknesses before much precious time & money are wasted.
I'm curious where your roommate works now. As you probably know, we cytotechs are a small community. In every city, all cytotechs know each other and where everyone works and so on.
I am SO lucky I entered my occupation and did so when I did. It has really worked out well for me.
As you also probably know, cytotechs have a deserved reputation for being a little off, a little different, a little quirky. I suppose it's the monotony & solitude of sitting at a microscope all day peering at cells. The question is a chicken-or-egg type of thing: did we enter this occupation because we're different, or did the job make us that way? Ah, we'll never know for sure...
Thank you for sharing your story!

Hey, y'all, Bunnypanda very kindly sent me very good instructions on how to post a photo here. Sadly I'm too intelligence-challenged to make them work. (Sorry, Bunny! If you'd like them properly posted here, you may delete this and replace it with the properly posted photo). Therefore, I'm posting a couple of photos this way. If you go to the below, you can see a photo of myself between portraits I did of Owen & Luke. (I'm not real pleased with the one of Luke so I'm doing it over again.) I hope this works: img26.photobucket.com/albums/v77/bunnypanda/with_portraits.jpg

Again, here is another photo of Yours Truly courtesy of Bunnypanda. In this photo, I am wearing Owen's tuxedo from I SPY which I won from eBay. Some tuxedo details: Tux arrived with a Certificate of Authenticity from Columbia Pictures. The tux is black, of course, but made from a lighter weight fabric. I suppose this is for economic reasons and for comfort reasons as the actors must wear their movie garb for long periods of time under hot stage lights. The tag inside the jacket collar has no manufacturers label. It only reads: Fabrique au/Made In Canada. The trousers have a shiny black 1" wide stripe on the outside leg seam. There is a tag with handwriting pinned to one of the sleeves. On one side, the tag reads: Hero - Alex Scott, I Spy. 1 black jkt, 1 pr pants, 1 tux shirt. The other side reads: Scene 36A *HOLD.* Some measurements: Overall length of jacket: 34 in/86.5 cm. Sleeve length (from outside shoulder seam to cuff): 24 3/8 in/62 cm. Inside trouser length, from crotch (woo-hoo!) to hem: 31 in/79 cm. Waist: 32 in/41 cm. img26.photobucket.com/albums/v77/bunnypanda/with_tux.jpg
