Hello Wes fans! I'm off to Houston Friday & Saturday for a work-related trip. I know Wes Anderson is from Houston, but I don't know any Wes-related Houston "shrines." If anyone here knows of one, you can let me know if you'd like a photo of it. Houston is a big place, and I don't know it well at all, but I'd be happy to see what I can do. TexGal

St. John's School is Wes's high school and where Rushmore was filmed! I'm sure I've read about some more sites somewhere but I can't quite remember them...I hope I can find some of them by tomorrow ;D You are going to be in Houston on Wes's birthday, texgal!!!

Thanks for the good wishes! I went to both Border's & Barnes & Noble tonight in search of Houston city maps. Couldn't find anything! I should be able to find a map at a filling station when I get to Houston. That way, I can find St. Johns school. Or else ask the hotel staff. Will let you know all about it if I can find it!

Hi there! Well, I DID get a Houston map... in Houston! And I DID find St. Johns School. It was actually kind of on my way out of town and very easy to find. Unfrotunately, it was late in the afternoon of a rainy day and I only had two shots left on my roll of film. I took those of the school, but I am so sorry I was caught unprepared! Not surprisingly, the school looks veddy veddy posh and is in a very ritzy area of Houston. It looks like it is not a Catholic school but an Episcopalian one. I was surprised that the campus is not hilly at all. It's flat; as flat as is all Houston. I had thought the Rushmore campus looked hilly in the movie, but it's very possible my memory is...uh...not quite accurate. The outside shots of Rushmore may have been filmed somewhere else too. Maybe only the interior shots were filmed at St. Johns? Next visit, I'll be sure to take lots more pics! I'll get this roll developed asap and have a CD made of them for you all.

WELL DONE TEXASGAL ! ! ! You did sooo good visiting St. John's!!! Ah I'm jealous of you. THANK YOU so much for taking the pictures! Rushmore was filmed at several schools so maybe that's why it was not as hilly as we see the Rushmore Academy is in the movie.

Bunny, you always say the sweetest things. YOU are the sweet one! You know the funniest thing about the workshop in Houston is that one of the presenters was the spitting image of Robert Wilson. I swear! He wasn't Robert Wilson though. He was Dr. Dwight Oliver, Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at University of TX Medical School, Houston. His topic was "Testing for High Risk and Low Risk Human Papillomavirus Using the Digene Hybrid Capture 2 System." Doesn't sound like a Robert Wilson topic, does it? Honestly, it was hard to stay focused with Dr. Oliver at the podium looking so much like Robert Wilson in every way I know. I saw Dr. Oliver in the corridor a couple of times after his speech. I almost said something to him but thought the better of it! ;D

That is so funny texgal! It must have been very distracting to have a Robert look-alike there ;D I once saw a Luke look-alike who had the same hairstyle as Anthony in BR and I was almost in love
