I finally saw this tonight! 100 minutes of pure unadulterated Luke Wilson!!!! HOT! I have never seen him look better! That's not my review... I did enjoy the film - nice little Indie diversion. All the actors were amazing! And I liked how it was not specific about anything... about what is wrong with Henry, his past or even why he chose that neighborhood. The details evolve - you are not hit over the head with anything. Luke did a great job! He was totally in character and believable. The story is a hard one to pull off... I think it was handled well though. I was reminded of Rob Reiner's comment that Luke is an "unsweaty" actor. That is seems effortless for him. I could see that in HPIH. I am going again Thu night - I don't think this one will last longer than a week unfortunately.

Oh thank God I am not the only one seeing this movie more than once! I have already seen it twice! I took my ten year old son on Sunday. I was concerned it might be over his head, but wow he really paid attention and we had quite the discussion afterwards about faith, believing in what you believe in and standing by that, and about life itself. He surprised me! I'm glad I took him. And as soon as he goes back to his dad's I will probably hit the theater one more time before Henry leaves the theater.

chevygirl, I plan on going again at least once more. But i have a couple more films i want to see and my budget unfortunately is not unlimited. Still have to see Tropic Thunder and I wanted to see Bottle Shock. I know HPIH at my chain will be here at least 2 more weeks because its not yet a $5 Club movie. You can see any film in that group at any showtime for just $5. But those are always the ones on their way out or have been out for more than 4 weeks. So i have some time. And maybe i can convince my sis to go with me.
Im glad your son enjoyed it. There's definitely a simplicity to it, and anyone at any age can get something out of it.

Natalie, when Jake Busey told Luke "I enjoyed getting to know your pores" he wasn't kidding. MAJOR LUKE FACE TIME in this one. The rest of him wasnt bad either

This won't give anything away, but for those of you who have yet to see it, pay close attention to the scene where he is lying on the floor eating chocolate chip cookies. Be sure to note all the crumbs on his shirt! And yes, LOTS of close ups in this movie! Good thing I have a big screen tv at home for when this comes out on DVD. It will be hard to compare to the big movie screen.

Pore-worthy close-ups are good enough for me too! If it's that close, then it will be close enough to see the little flecks of sun damage to his skin too. ;D I hope to get to see it this Saturday night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will still be showing. #praying#

Speaking of freckles - he even has freckles on his thumb.( Okay, that I missed. Gee, I guess I'll have to go see it again.

I did see a thumb freckle though the one I saw was tiny. I was watching for it, guess that's why I noticed. Seriously, Luke was just AWESOME in this. I had issues with some of the messages of the film, but Luke was just amazing. And man, he looks so good scruffy and hairy. On the silly side, I liked Dawn's "Welcome" mailbox. I paint in that same decorative style. I've been meaning to paint my own mailbox to look prettier. Now I will! Also, I wondered about Patience's glasses. Eyes behind glasses that thick don't look that big. I kept wondering how they did that: how did they keep her eyes appearing to be the same size whether she was wearing her glasses or not. Also the edge of her face behind the glasses looked like a face behind convex lenses, not concave lenses. I was kind of mesmerized by that. This film is DEFINITELY on my Must-Buy list! I agree with Lib: it's a veritable LUKE FEAST!
