Welcome Futurewoman!
Texasgal and I had a blast tonight. First Guero's with their amazing margaritas and then the movie!
Idiocracy is hilarious! The theater was semi full and everyone seemed to enjoy the movie. Much laughter.
The film opens with Robert Musgrave - almost stealing the scene. I came close to shouting at the screen. It was fun to see Luke and Bob together again. In TWBS only Owen and Bob share screen time.
Luke blew me away! He does a great job. He channels Anthony Adams a bit. That sweet optimism. His naive belief that Maya Rudolph's character is an artist and not a prostitute harkens back to Anthony's faith in Dignan.
The film is so funny that you don't laugh out loud. It is too shocking. It reminds me of Office Space in that it is too close to the truth. You find yourself saying, "Damn!"
Terry Crews as the president is Oscar worthy if you ask me! Kidding. But he is amazing.
There are great roles for Office Space alumni - David Herman and Greg Pitts (O face guy).
Sylcia & IMAQT, Andrew will do you proud. He captures Beef Supreme! He works the crowd like no other! And looks amazing at the same time!
The time machine at the end is hilarious! And the artist sketches of Luke's character on trial - I'd love to own one!
I didn't know what to expect and ended up enjoying the movie... laughing almost constantly. It is well paced and every scene packs so much information it is almost sensory overload of idiocy... which is the point. You know how annoying the cable news is today - with all the bits is information tucked into every corner - that is how Idiocracy is. So much is tucked into every corner of the screen. You leave feeling overwhelmed with doom - but in a good way.
I hope to catch this again while I am in town.
Modified to correct spelling - very fitting.
