Happy New Year everyone I saw this article on the top 40 directors currently making movies and Wes was ranked 29th The relevant part about Wes was: 29 WES ANDERSON Martin Scorsese recently tipped Anderson as the brightest hope for American cinema. Scripted in tandem with his actor buddy Owen Wilson, Anderson's work is literate, quirky and moving. His breakthrough picture, Rushmore, was a poignant salute to high-school losers everywhere. More recently, the vibrant, Salinger-esque The Royal Tenenbaums charted the decline and fall of a precocious New York family. Substance 13 Look 16 Craft 16 Originality 17 Intelligence 16 TOTAL 78 I don't agree with them rating him so low on substance. I think all the movies have dealt with some weighty issues in a poignant manner, but a lot of movie critics feel it has to be gritty realism with lots of blood and guts on show for their to be substance. to them Here is a link to the full SMH story Click here

That's cool that he ranked in the top. I think I would have put him up a little higher than. Perhaps the critics just didn't understand the substance in the film. LOL
