Hi - I was just visiting over @ the Yankee Racers board and saw a post re: The Wendell Baker Story being on television -- whether HBO, etc. is unclear.
Can't imagine it being on network. Has anyone heard anything other than it was going to be in theaters?
Thanks!

Hey Meribeth I saw that rumor too! A friend of Kris Kristofferson supposedly said it will be on TV. I know the movie was financed by franchise pictures and that there has never been any news on who was gonna have distribution etc so I guess someone like HBO could have picked it up I don't know but I really hope it will be realeased in theaters and not on TV cos if its released in theaters it is much more likely to be available in New Zealand I don't know how long it would be or even if it would be seen here, if it is picked up by someone like HBO or showtime

I heard somewhere that it was being released in theatres sometime this year. But that's just what I've heard.

Ah! Please please please let it be released in theatres! I really want it to do well for Luke's sake. Plus I can't wait to see it, if they don't release it in cinemas it may never get to NZ

Looks like TWBS is going to be released through Warner Bros productions. I am not sure if Elie Samaha letting this movie out of his hands is a good thing.
This is from variety.com
Posted: Tue., Feb. 24, 2004, 6:00pm PT Stocked market Yari adds foreign sales asset as AFM opens By DANA HARRIS, CATHY DUNKLEY Yari
Bob Yari has taken majority ownership in foreign sales shingle Syndicate Films Intl., as another step toward turning his network of companies into an independent studio.
Meanwhile, as the 24th annual American Film Market opens for business today, foreign sales vet Elie Samaha has quietly turned over foreign sales of Franchise titles to Mobius, a new division of Ron Tudor and David Bergstein's R2D2.
These include "The Wendell Baker Story," which was directed by brothers Andrew and Luke Wilson; latter also stars. Mobius took over financing on the pic, which will be released through Franchise's distribution deal through Warner Bros. Pictures.
Bergstein will be president of Culver City-based Mobius. Its production division, Mobius Pictures, will produce three to four titles a year budgeted between $20 million and $40 million. Bergstein also plans to launch a low-budget division, Moment Pictures.
The first title under the Mobius label will be New Line Cinema's "Laws of Attraction." The next Mobius production is "Psychic," which will star Cuba Gooding Jr. and is slated for an April start. Mobius picked up that project in turnaround from Franchise.
Mobius and Moment are held by R2D2 subsid Red Circle, in which Samaha holds a minority stake. Former Franchise international distribution prexy Mimi Steinbauer now holds that title at Mobius.
Franchise will continue to operate as a production label. The shingle's distribution agreement with Warners runs through the end of 2005.
In Yari's network, Syndicate will rep most of the product produced through Yari's Stratus Film Co., Bull's Eye Entertainment, El Camino Pictures and Bob Yari Prods. Yari estimated that 70%-80% of Syndicate's titles will come through BYP.
Formed in November, Syndicate reps a number of Yari titles. These include "Hostage" starring Bruce Willis, "Painted Veil" starring Edward Norton and Naomi Watts, "Employee of the Month" starring Matt Dillon, "Haven" starring Orlando Bloom, "House of D" starring Robin Williams and David Duchovny and "Thumbsucker" starring Vince Vaughn and Keanu Reeves. Syndicate sales executives are David Glasser and Lisa Wilson.
"By strategically involving the overseas distributor at the earliest phases of production, we believe we have a more far-seeing opportunity for creating product with global appeal," Yari said.
He added his companies have 11 films in some stage of production. "The great surprise for me has been the number of films that are available that fit (our) financial model, which is a pretty strict model," said Yari.

Thanks Lib I must say I think it going to WB is quite good! I mean at least this way it should come out to theaters and not be a TV movie! WB screwed up the promo for TBB but then I really don't think there heart was in it - they were already convinced the movie would not do well before we ever saw it. But the promo for S&H has been great! So I think they could do a good job as distributors - here's hoping ;D
