There was a little piece on Adage today about an announcement made by John Hayes the Chief Marketing Officer for American Express at the Advertising age's Madison and Vine conference. Mr. Hayes also announced a film project being funded by American Express to be produced with Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter and directed by Wes Anderson (The Royal Tennenbaums). It features a look at American culture through the eyes of humorist and author Fran Lebowitz. A 2005 release is planned.I don't really know what to make of this is it an ad? Or a movie sponsored by a corporation? Anyway should be interesting ;D Here is the full article, if anyone can cast any light on what this actually means I'd appreciate it Click Here to see full article

Yep a film project! American Express are bankrolling a film that's the up and down of it. All good advertising for them, and get's the script put up on the silver screen. It's killing two birds with one stone. alex

It sounds like a documentary. But then Wes did do those IKEA ads a few years ago.

Wes has done a few ads because he did some for Avon too didn't he? This sounds interesting! I wonder if it is a documentary. I remember a story from the days when Owen and Wes were roomies and they had a falling out with the landlord and Wes ended up doing a documentary for the Landlord of the landlord talking about his pet snake and how much he loved him to smooth things over Or something like that it has been a while since I read that ;D

I read somewhere that he wanted to write a screenplay for a Roald Dahl book, Fantastic Mr. Fox. Is this still going to happen?? I just want Anderson to work more...I love his movies...Anderson NEEDS to work more...enough of this long *ss breaks in between.
