The guys have indicated an Irish ancestry and we all love to identify with Owen's shamrock tattoo... HurlT;)
PS. The only thing missing on this board is an Irish emoticon!

Hi Fergie, Thanks for the neat site. My great-grandmother is named Robe. I found from the site that they were from the Drummond clan. My Mom was orphaned at a young age, so, we don't know very much about that side of the family. We knew they came from Scotland, but, haven't connected them in our research. This info may help us direct our search. As for the Wilsons, I had heard they were of Irish decent, but, don't quote me on that.

Owen referred to his ancestry in this article:
CrankyCritic: Are you still doing the sequel to Shanghai Noon? Owen Wilson: Shanghai Knights, yeah, in February.
CrankyCritic: Shooting in Ireland, right? Owen Wilson: Well, it's supposed to be England, you know, if we go back to Jack the Ripper time. I don't know where, maybe Prague and London. I would like it to be Dublin, to be Ireland, because that's where my ancestors are from and I think I get along good with Irish people. The director on Behind Enemy Lines was Irish.

I think that it is interesting that Owen has Irish ancestry. I have ancestors from Ireland but they are hard to trace. I do a lot of genealogy and I am trying to trace them but I find that Scotland and Ireland are the worst places to find information. I always wondered what tattoo was on Owen's shoulder. I only noticed it in Shanghai Noon (bathtub scene).
Considering this is Luke's board, I suppose that I should have mentioned his name instead of Owen's. At least I admire both brothers considerably.

I've always been trying to find out where the Wilsons hail from in Ireland. (Guess I was on the wrong threads!) Oh Wow! Ozarka, where did that article come from where Owen said his ancestors are from Dublin (my home city)? BTW, according to BL's info on Owen (World of Owen) he has a four leafed clover on his arm, that's not a shamrock, because a shamrock has three leaves. (As I've said on another thread Luke has a definite Irish look, but even Dignan in Bottlerocket has an Irish kinda of character-I recognised it immediately, but it's not a character I particularly like- too close to the bone!

he has a four leafed clover on his arm, that's not a shamrock, because a shamrock has three leaves. Oh that is so true ViS! I didn't notice until now that a shamrock has three leaves, but I just looked up my dictionary (ordinary English-Japanese dictionary) and it has the picture of shamrock and it has three leaves. And Owen's tatoo does have four leaves. I think I may have read Owen saying it is a shamrock. If so he must think it is.

My mother just calls it a clover. So do I actually. A four leaf clover is for good luck! I always keep looking for four leaf clovers but I have never found one. I mainly did this when I was a kid (child) growing up.
Do you remember (or have you heard) of the song "I'm looking over a four leave clover?" I keep hearing the song in my head now!! Sheesh! It was an old song when I heard it as a young girl!!
At a guess, Owen has it for GOOD LUCK.

It sounds like Owen is faithful, hopeful, loveable and very lucky! I wouldn't mind him as a charm around my neck.........*wink* I just love a cuddle.

BP, I'm surprised if Owen thinks the four-leafed clover is a shamrock, he must have been conned when he got it done. LOL. I'm still really pleased that the Wilsons are Dubliners. That's wonderful! I think Owen feels an affinity with Ireland, from what he says.
