Knowing that Luke has written the Wendell Baker Story - or co-written with Owen, according to some sites, there seems to be some confusion about this, although undoubtedly Owen will have had some input at some level, if even just on his own lines! Anyways back to what I was saying I was interested when I found this little snippet he wrote for Jane magazine. It is very old but I hadn't seen it and I am looking forward to TWBS even more now - if that was possible! In-N-Out Burger My assignment? French fries. Chosen for my Woodward and Bernstein-like journalistic tenacity, and my Judy Blume-like accessibility, I drove east on Sunset Boulevard to In-N-Out Burger. The place was teeming with Hollywood High summer school students -- a rowdy bunch. After cutting to the front of the line (hey, I was on deadline), the students became vocal, even physical. I told them that they should be figuring out the symbolism of the river in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, not worrying about some guy cutting in front of them. Finally, I made my order: fries, large; shake, vanilla. Plain french fries, not cheese fries with ranch dressing. We Americans have a tendency to bastardize the classics. Not at In-N-Out, though. When I was growing up, McDonald's fries were held in the highest esteem, but these fries were flawless. Turning to the young couple next to me, I asked, "What do you think of the fries?" The boyfriend-half offered to send me to the hospital, which I couldn't figure out since I'm healthy as a horse. All in all, the fries, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Luke "Home Fries" Wilson, actor, Home Fries Jane, Volume 2, Number 7, September 1998

He writes! I cannot get over how much I love that he's written AND directed AND acted in a movie. And see how he's even funny when he writes? What a hunk That's a really cute little piece, thanks for posting Pollyanna. That boy definitely has talent.

As you know I am a bit of an Owen girl! But when I read the following excerpt from an article on Drew Barrymore on the lawnwranglers.com I have to admit I have started developing a soft spot for Luke! ;D What a lovely sweet sensitive guy he is awwwwww. I also love the bit about obstacle course relay races! The Wilsons Christmas' sounds exhausting! but fun Exerpt from Happily Ever After But the thing [Drew] Barrymore loves best is love. She says things like, "I would like to be the most wonderful girlfriend that ever lived." She says, "I think it's nice when people find love, because I feel like everyone deserves it. She calls her boyfriend of two years, actor Luke Wilson, "the greatest person I've ever met. Hands down, everything I do, I think how it affects him." Luckily, everyone else loves Wilson, too. He and Barrymore began dating just before he was cast as her love interest in Home Fries. In that film and in his others (Bottle Rocket, Telling Lies in America), Wilson, 27, has a droll, deadpan delivery, an engaging "deer-caught-in-the-headlights quality, like Jimmy Stewart," [Dean] Parisot says. Wilson is a nice guy, people say. Calm, upstanding, reliable. He's good for Barrymore. "So, you finally got rid of those rock & roll guys," David Letterman needled her. (Barrymore's exes include Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson, Beverly Hills 90210 actor James Walters and Welsh bar owner Jeremy Thomas, whom Barrymore married in 1994 and split from six weeks later.) Wilson wasn't intimidated by Barrymore's past, he says: "I just kinda asked her out. It just seemed natural. She makes you feel that at ease. She makes so much of an effort in her dealings with people. She's so smart and funny and ready to laugh, she has a way of making you forget all the stuff you may have heard or read [about her]." This Christmas will be the third that Barrymore spends in Texas with Wilson's family -- his mom, dad, grandma, two brothers -- the kind of family that not only has picnics but sets up elaborate obstacle-course relay races at them. Not, in other words, the Barrymores. "The first Christmas, she was a little nervous," Wilson says. "I remember thinking, how could this of all things make you nervous? Then I realized, maybe she wasn't used to this. Maybe it made her think about her own family. And she loved it, but it also made her a little bit sad." US, Issue 250, November 1998

Speaking of Drew, here's a People.com snipit about Luke and Drew. DREW'S HAPPY FACE Drew Barrymore refers to herself as "Miss Bubbly," and her boyfriend, Luke Wilson, can attest to her effervescence. "Sometimes I feel like the crank of the neighborhood, the grumpy old man," Wilson, who co-stars with Barrymore in "Home Fries," told the Boston Globe. "Sometimes she's sitting there, and I think, 'What do I need to be happy for? She's happy enough for both of us.'" Wilson says Barrymore's sunny demeanor isn't a facade, but he admits he likes to be around on the rare occasions when she "gets ticked off at something, provided it's not me." Here's the direct link but you need a temporary access code from a current issue of People magazine to get access. people.aol.com/people/news/now/0,10958,118555,00.html The snipit didn't have a date, but I bet it was around the same time of the article Pollyanna posted.

Thanks again Librarian! You have been busy and it is really appreciated ;D I can't imagine that Luke is a grumpy old man though lol no matter what he says It's nice to know that Luke and Drew obviously had some very happy special moments even if it didn't work out. They say it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Sometimes things aren't meant to be but if we have warm memories then the journey has been worthwhile. I really hope it is like that for them

That is horrible November! Take it from me, that not all Italians are that rude! My dad is Italian, but speaks English (with an accent! ) And he always speaks in English to people so they can understand him. I speak different languages, but when someone is there that doesn't speak it at all, I am constantly translating, even if someone just asked, "What time is it?" Because it really sucks to feel left out!

November, you do have to be a People magazine subscriber, but you can get temporary access by looking inside a current newstand issue. They have a weekly access code that is supposed to be used by anyone who purchases the latest People magazine. With that access code, you have access for a week. That is how I got access. Then I did a search on "luke wilson" and "owen wilson" -- and found all this great stuff. It also provides a link to Entertainment Weekly - if you sign up for 2 free issues, you get access to it as well. I mention this because there was a great article about BEL that had interviews with Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson. It was really long - maybe too long to post. I had planned on taking Owen excerpts and posting them, but now I don't have access anymore.

This is really old and I know everyone will have seen this before but I couldn't resist posting this because when you said about his too cute comments it just made me think of these ;D Dear Man Need advice? Well, you could be normal and consult your shrink. Or you could save some money and seek the perspective of a male celebrity. This time, hunky Luke Wilson, star of Bottle Rocket and Home Fries, does the honors. Q: I really like my boyfriend, but I don't understand why he acts so immature when he gets around his friends. -- Martyra, Columbus, Ohio A: Baudelaire once said, "Genius is childhood recaptured at will." I think you may need to come to terms with the fact that your boyfriend and friends may be geniuses. Q: When I bring my boyfriend to visit my parents, he often stays in bed until 3 or 4 p.m. It embarasses me. What should I do? -- Winnie, Bath, Michigan A: I feel like I need more information. How old is the guy? He sounds like he may still be growing. Does he wake up in a great mood? Does he wake up cranky, asking where the hell breakfast is? I just don't know, but if there is one thing I have learned about relationships, it's acceptance, acceptance, acceptance. Q: My husband never, ever lets me drive when he is in the car. What is the deal? I'm a good driver -- Riding Shotgun in Charlottesville, North Carolina A: That's an interesting question. Oddly, it has been scientifically proven that the genetic makeup of the male will cause him to explode if not at the wheel. Q: Lately my boyfriend has criticized my eating habits and my weight. It really makes me uncomfortable. Should I say something? -- Mary, Seattle A: I think it's time to leave a note saying, "Gone for enchiladas and a milkshake." I just love his answers and his humor

I've never seen that before - thanks for posting! I've got a hankering for Owen, but after all this Lukeness, I think I may have to ask O to move over a bit and make room for his brother
