hello, thought you guyz might be interested in this Lopez and Wilson moving to Dallas? Posted by Clint Morris on March 15, 2006 Though it’s been long-rumoured that they’ve been high on the director’s wish list, Variety has presented the first corroboration that talks are happening between Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson for Director Robert Luketic’s upcoming TV-to-film offering, “Dallas”. Apparently Jlo (or ‘Jello’ as she be known for a while, thanks to that spot-on spoof in “Date Movie”) is in talks to play Sue-Ellen, whilst Wilson might be possibly pulling on the trousers of Bobby Ewing. Colin Farrell, I thought, was the frontrunner for that role – but obviously Luketic got hold of a tape of “Alexander” and swiftly changed his mind. No surprise that Luketic has offered a role to Lopez though. He loved working with her on "Monster-In-Law" apparently - and has been keen to find something else for her them to work on together. (He also speaks very highly of Jane Fonda, who also starred in that film, and rumour had it that he was interested in her for a role in "Dallas", but that seems unlikely now, since most of the main parts have been cast). If the duo agrees to provisionally move to Southport, then they’ll join John Travolta, who’s playing J.R Ewing, and Shirley MacLaine, who’s playing Miss Ellie Ewing, for the film. Plans for a “Dynasty” movie are no doubt imminent.

Here's another thread from back in September on this very subject. Click HereI saw the same program that Tex saw recently about Luke being considered for the role of Bobby. Maybe Owen passed on it, and now Luke is considering it? Either way, it's a terrifying thought. Seriously, I think Luke is better suited for the role, and would do an awesome job, I just think the movie itself is a bad idea. I think it would make a great SNL sketch though. ;D

I just think the movie itself is a bad idea. I think it would make a great SNL sketch though. ;D Right. Don't you think that with this cast, this movie would have to be a parody? I can't see this being a 'serious' movie, but maybe a comical version of the original. I just can't picture this.

Yep, I do. But, I don't have much faith that it would be funny or interesting enough to hold my attention for 90 mins or more.

This Luketic guy also directed Legally Blond... Modified to add: I agree with Remi, I don't think it will be an interesting movie. I remember not liking the TV show when it was on, but back then I was still in diappers. I think this remake-phase Hollywood is going through should really be over. What's wrong with these people? No new ideas? Not even the propect of seeing Luke could make me watch this movie... I think that, apart from him, it will be boriiiiiing.

I think this remake-phase Hollywood is going through should really be over. What's wrong with these people? No new ideas? Very well put, Nana. There are a bunch of ladies here who know what Hollywood should be putting out...THE WENDELL BAKER STORY. Witty, original, touching, funny, musical, a movie people WANT TO SEE... all the things Hollywood WISHES it could produce.

I'm glad to hear someone else is sick of all the remakes. If Hollywood is looking for something new, they should try Triggerstreet.com, zoetrope.com or projectgreenlight.liveplanet.com. All have unfilmed scripts with new ideas. Some are better than others. I have a screenplay at Triggerstreet, sitting around the 800 out of 2400 mark but the scripts in the top 100 are creative wonders.
And as far as filmed work, Yes, Free Wendell!
