I asked my husband if we could skip the dinner and go to the movie, but he responds DIGNAN style: #3 FACT: Your pal Owen may be HOT, but unless he produces actual positive THERMS of energetic heat to rate significant effect... #4 FACT: We will be farming the kids out to Grandma and enjoying a late night applewood fire with a bottle of Merlot and reliving the north shore of Hawaii on our own after dinner... #5 FACT: Talk to you tomorrow!... I have spent my day day off traveling 100 miles to have lunch with my sister (Chinese, of course-moo shu pork). After a grueling week being fed to the pirrahnas at work, I felt I deserved a perk...after lunch, I went to the afternoon matinee of TBB alone. To respect the others who have not seen the movie, I can only say DIGNAN style: #3 FACT: My pal Owen is excessively HOT and produced enough actual positive THERMS of energetic heat to melt the snow in the theatre parking lot and kept me primed for the 100 mile drive back home in the slush... #4 FACT: We WILL be farming the kids out to the OTHER Grandma, drinking Irish coffees and starting our own fire on the Wiamea sheets..I mean shores... #5 FACT: Maybe I'll see you tomorrow and maybe not!...

www.tribute.ca has an interview with Morgan Freeman this week. Ther was one bit that I thought was interesting: B.L. Great cast in this, which was obviously a major appeal, but tell me about working with Owen Wilson and what makes him such a likeable guy?
M.F. I think that Owen is one of those people who come across as "what you see is what you get." He has no pretence, none whatsoever. He is just a straight up guy but there is something else beneath the surface of his persona and that is an incredible intelligence. That is so different from what Betty Thomas said when she called him a manipulator. I think Morgan Freeman has less of an axe to grind and I don't think Owen could have co-written the scripts he has without incredible intelligence. It's nice to hear MF say he is a straight up guy because I really like that quality in people! ;D

I love Morgan Freeman - even more, now. People who are confident in their talent can appreciate talent in others. Hence, the problems Betty Thomas had with Owen

I think we can all agree that Sara Foster isn't an actress. And most of us would agree that she isn't so attractive that her looks could make up for that fact. We would agree that the rest of TBB was well cast. SO, why do you think they picked her? She had NONE of the qualities needed to play the part of Nancy. My BF, being a man, has his own thoughts on why she was chosen But other than the casting couch, for the love of God, WHY?

This is a multiple choice question Why was Sarah Foster cast as Nancy in The Big Bounce a) She was Cheap. b) She has Connections. c) Her best audition was on the casting couch d) Some misgided fool thought she could act as in her legs "act" all the way up to her neck e) all of the above I'm going with e personally The truly mysterious thing is that she has been cast in something else so somewhere out there, there is someone else that her daddy knows, with a budget to keep and who's thinking with the wrong head ;D Gee I'm being mean - it's fun though On edit: I had to add (cos I feel guilty for being so meow!) that I'd cut her a little slack but TBB has gone from most theaters now and it is undoubtedly the biggest flop poor O has been associated with. I Spy looks positively successful by comparison And I think she more than contributed to that!

I have to report the sad, sad news that it is GONE. I was planning on seeing TBB again this weekend and to my surprise I can't find it playing anywhere. The movie has been out for only three weeks, why would they pull it from the theaters so soon. It was not given any opportunity to build an audience. What a waste of 50M.

It's really only just over two weeks Mac and it is sad I guess the theaters expect a movie to open strongly and they don't give them very long if they don't. I worked out that at $9 a ticket (is that the right price in the States?) that based on the money the movie was taking each day last week, across 2304 theaters - that on average, 6 people were seeing it at each theater, each day. I guess to be fair to the theaters, they just can't keep a movie, doing that kind of business, playing. The promotion for this movie was terrible and the casting of certain roles (see above ) wasn't too crash hot, all I can say is bring on Starsky & Hutch and I hope Owen isn't too bummed out about it. Here are some excerpts from an Interview Tribute did with Sarah Foster she had a lot of nice things to say about Owen ;D B.L. Working opposite someone like Owen Wilson, how easy does he make it for you because he’s such a likeable guy? S.F. That’s what I say to everyone. He makes it so easy. He makes you look good, you know what I mean? If you’re like mediocre, he makes you look good, if you’re good, he makes you look great! He brings it out in you. I don’t know what it is. He’s so charming and funny, and easy to work with, and he’s going to make a great director one day because he does that you know, he’s really helpful.
B.L. Who ended up impressing you the most? S.F. I was the most nervous to meet Morgan and that’s only because I hadn’t met him before arriving in Hawaii. Owen and I had spent a little bit of time together before we arrived here in pre-production. But Owen I worked with the most, the majority of my scenes were with him, and I’m the President of his fan club to say the least.
B.L. So we go on the website and just find your name, click in, e-mail to you… S.F. If you have a question about him, call me because I love him.
B.L. He must be a lot of fun to work with. I just can’t even imagine how much fun… S.F. But he’s like that off screen. You see him in Zoolander, you see him in all these movies…he’s the same guy and he’s so unaware of how wonderful he is. I know this is a mean thing to be thinking but when she says Owen directed her, no one has said that about him before, and I couldn't help but wonder if Owen wasn't trying to direct her because he knew the scenes desperately needed improvement? Just a thought

Man, Can you image what her performance would be like if she didn't have Owen to "make her look good"?

Part of the problem with the big bounce is that it was only in 2000 theaters....that's only like 40 theaters PER state. How can you expect a movie to do well if it's only in 2000 theaters?? Sure the movie bombed, but I don't think that it was Owen's fault at all. I think that the promotions department totally :-[ed him over.

Speaking of disappearing from theaters - here is the offical theater count from Box Office Mojo. My guess is that theaters had to keep it for two weeks and then had the option of replacing it. There wasn't any change from the 1st to 2nd week.
I guess the bright side is that it may be on DVD sooner and I can find out if there is luggage next to him in the limo!!!

On the bright side of TBB going to DVD is that you can fast forward through the parts with Sara Foster and pause on all those great scenes with Owen.

I think I read somewhere on this board that Miss Foster has been signed for something else. What could it be? A new movie of the week opposite Shannen Dougerty? Girls Gone Wild Special Edition? Freddy Vs. Jason IV? Please. Enlighten me.

I read she was doing a movie called DEBS with two other chicks. I hope they can act cause she sure sucks. Maybe she plays a mannequin. That would be a perfect part for her - stand there & look pretty but don't open your mouth.
