Another excellent female photographer, Eve Arnold. I was lucky enough to see her retrospective collection when it went on show at the Barbican in London a few years ago. Eve is famous for photgraphing Marilyn Monroe, but I wondered if anyone on here was familiar with her social pictures from the 50', 60's etc. One of my favourite pictures of Eve Arnolds is of a retired Chinese woman. All the more extraordinary because she took the photo from the back of a vehichle and never actually met the subject. One of those magical moments you could never create in a studio. Heres the photo.. Courtesy of Magnum photos.. Here's the link to the Eve Arnold on the magnum site also. Well worth a look. www.magnumphotos.com/c/htm/TreePf_MAG.aspx?Stat=Photographers_Portfolio&E=29YL53IQ59I

Beautiful photo Furg- As a sidenote, I notice that Eve sent her son to Bedales in Hampshire. I happen to know that Daniel Day-Lewis also attended Bedales and did some middle school theatre there... HT

Bedales sounds amazing ... www.bedales.org.uk/........and Daniel Day- Lewis, that man does'nt make enough films for my liking. You know, I always thought he was Irish. It may have something to do with his outstanding performance in My Left Foot.
