I am so bummed. I just figured out that the closest theater running Middle Men this Friday is in freakin' Indiana. What is up with that? How long is that drive from Atlanta...like 9 hours? Thanks Paramount. I owe ya one. :) I assume that it will be in wide release the next weekend then? Anybody know? Damn, do you know how hard it is to pout and type? Here is another interview: www.cinemablend.com/new/Interview-Middle-Men-s-Luke-Wilson-19985.html

cookie I usually check IMDb and then take it with a grain of salt but they have no information. Posters on the message board say it's only opening on 200 screens. Comingsoon.net (don't ask me how reliable they are) says MM is limited Aug 6 then "expands" Aug 20. Completely vague. If you are in or near Atlanta I would expect to see it on the 20th. Don't want to depress you, just telling you my experience with wanting to see alot of movies beyond the Transformers variety. #wink# Through my search though I did find you can listen to the entire MM soundtrack for free on AOL music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/#/5

Oh, thanks, Mixedberry. I see about 4-6 movies a month in the theaters, so that website Comingsoon.net should come in very handy. It is frustrating these days because the actors go on the talk shows and give print interviews and then it seems that the movies are not actually out on the date promised.
I will stop whining now, though. Hooray!
Middle Men is getting good reviews and at this moment it has a 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Awesome! Luke has got to be excited. As he said on Kimmel during the DAAF promo, "...I am just one bad movie away from CSI - El Paso."
He cracks me up!

Luke Wilson would love Old School 2 to be in sessionIt doesn't sound like the bell is ringing any time soon for a sequel to the hit comedy Old School. Luke Wilson quipped to Hollywood News,"I think it happened, it was called The Hangover." They've been trying to do it for a while, they have the script. But getting Will (Ferrell) and Vince (Vaughn) together was tough logistically.DreamWorks released Old School in February 2003 and chalked up $87.1 million at the global box office. "I was always ready to go", said the actor whose upcoming film is the crime-comedy Middle Men directed by George Gallo (screenwriter of Bad Boys, Midnight Run). In the film Wilson plays Jack Harris, a business pioneer in internet pornography. Close to a year ago, Collider received a similar response from Vince Vaughn: director Todd Phillips has a script, but wasn't moving Old School 2 forward, rather The Hangover 2. Vaughn at the time had previously read an intriguing script for Old School 2. "They (Todd Phillips and co.) could come back and do it," Wilson said about the potential for Old School 2, "I'd kill to get the chance to do it with those guys."Wed, Aug 4 2010

Very happy and excited for Luke.... Luke Wilson Rises to the Top in 'Middle Men' Luke Wilson stumbles onto an Internet gold mine in the new drama 'Middle Men,' in theaters Friday, and he says of his new project, "You go to the movies to be entertained, and you definitely get that in spades with this movie." Based on a true story, Luke plays Jack Harris, a businessman and family man in 1995 who agrees to help steer the budding business of Wayne Beering (Giovanni Ribisi) and Buck Dolby (Gabriel Macht), Internet developers who sell adult entertainment online. Almost overnight, the entrepreneurs find themselves raking in millions - and facing the wrath of the FBI, politicians and the seedier side of the adult film industry. "These guys were at the right place at the right time, and though obviously a little crazy, they were kind of geniuses in their own right," says Luke. "It always made me think of the oil business and the Rockefellers and the Hunts just being in the right place at the right time with the right business, and then one minute they're just plowing along, and the next minute they're millionaires." Not quite the computer geek, Luke says he enjoyed playing "a different character in kind of a thriller drama" and enjoyed meeting the man the incredible story was based upon.
"I've never been that technologically savvy; most of what I knew about the Internet and that world was just from the newspaper and TV," says Luke, "so to get to meet the guy that [the movie] was actually based on, that kind of thing was really interesting to me, because I always envy actors that get to study real people that their characters are based on." Co-written and directed by George Gallo ('Midnight Run,' 'Bad Boys'), 'Middle Men also stars Kevin Pollak, Terry Crews, Laura Ramsey, James Caan and Kelsey Grammer.

Luke Wilson portrays regular guy who made millions in porn
Luke Wilson as a straight-laced businessman who helps launch the billion dollar on line porn industry.
It seems to be the vogue for technology billionaires to get their start in the most unassuming settings.Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard originated their eponymous company in a garage, and Michael Dell started his first computer company in his University of Texas dorm room. And the dorm room features heavily in the story of Mark Zuckerberg, who is generally credited with creating Facebook while a student at Harvard University, although the supposed murky founding of the 500 million-member website will be explored in the upcoming big-screen drama “The Social Network.” But like it or not, sex is what springs to mind in all the early revolutions of technology and entertainment — and the topic is given full reign in “Middle Men,” an R-rated tale about the genesis of the Internet porn boom.
“Inspired by true events,” it stars Luke Wilson as Jack Harris, a trouble-shooting Texas businessman who is engaged by lawyer James Haggerty (James Caan) to help out two Vegas cokeheads who have figured a way to make a bit of money out of online sex.The year is 1995 and while partying in their garage Wayne Beering (Giovanni Ribisi) and Buck Dolby (Gabriel Macht) have cut out dirty magazine pictures and pasted them to a screen page and charging men to ogle and enjoy. But when they hit on filming sex and posting that online, the money starts to roll in; and with Harris’ input as the creator of an early online billing software program, the odd partnership begins to rake in millions of dollars within months. Written by Andy Weiss and George Gallo (“Midnight Run,” “Wiseguys”) and directed by Gallo, the film is a highly stylized portrayal of the life of its producer, Christopher Mallick, who launched one of the Internet’s first third party billing services back in the early 1990’s. With all the requisite excesses that flow from money, sex and greed, “Middle Men” is to the adult entertainment business what “Wall Street” was to buying and selling stocks.Meanwhile, the straitlaced family man Harris soon finds himself caught between a 23-year-old porn star, the FBI, corrupt politicians and the Russian Mafia and must somehow find a path to redemption. The action, which never lets up, particularly suits Ribisi, the memorable, hyper-kinetic actor known for his roles on such movies and television shows as “Avatar,” “Gone in Sixty Seconds,” “Friends” and “Boiler Room.”
For a scene in which a six-foot-five Russian heavy slaps the five-foot-four Ribisi in the face, Mallick recalled that the actor baited the extra so much that the mobster slammed him down so hard on a concrete floor that Ribisi’s shoes flew off for real.“Now that’s [expletive] acting,” Ribisi said when Gallo yelled cut, suffering a cracked rib for his trouble.“I was a bit intimidated working with Giovanni, because I really admired him,” said Wilson promoting the film last week. “They kind of warned me, be careful he likes to stay in character. But when you’re in a scene with him he’s incredible, but afterwards we’d just go and have a cup of coffee. We all had a good time on location.”Wilson, last seen acting opposite Zoe Saldana, Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan in “Death at a Funeral,” has made a career out of playing low-key, regular guys. But crazy antics aside, here the film’s emotional connection rests on Harris being the calm amongst the chaos and dealing with the consequences of the choices he makes.“When I read the script, I saw this Jack as a regular guy who just got into a crazy business over his head,” explained Wilson. “I never really thought about the moral aspects of it. It’s like Hugh Hefner ... he’s published a lot of great writers and was always involved in the civil rights movement. I never really think of him as a pornographer.”P.S. Another notation not a part of the above article but from a different witten article ..... LUKE IS THE SHY WILSON Being surrounded by naked women took some getting used to for Luke Wilson. He plays the guy who started the first Internet porn site in Middle Men. Wilson says they cast women who have real Internet porn sites in the movie, so they had no problem being naked. But Wilson says he had the urge to ask them to put on a shawl or a sweater.

Thanks iluvtexas! I was wondering about that. They hire models for alot of movies and music videos but they had me perplexed at who they would get for the deleted "mansion scene" that's been leaked. It didn't dawn on me they would hire porn professionals! #rofl#

Luke looks fantastic at the premiere and I do like the matching shirt and fancy suit. And finally a big premiere for Middle Men nearly 2 years after filming. I wonder if there's a London premiere?

Can I post the first fan review? I saw it this morning because I knew that would be the only time I could see MM this weekend.
As a movie, it's great. As a Luke Wilson movie, another great showcase for his talent and I think he hit it out of the park.
So basically I would call this a character driven movie. I know Luke and the promotion team have been pushing this as kind of a thriller but I wouldn't call it that. It has thriller moments but it's much more about relationships and real acting which I know doesn't sell out theaters. I hope the general public that doesn't go to a Luke Wilson movie just because Luke is in it really know it's not about porn. At the same time if you have sensitive ears and don't care for nudity I would stay home. Even Luke's dialogue isn't 100% clean. I'll just say the Kelsey Grammar clip that's been on the talk shows is heavily edited.
Caan is fantastic as usual. Luke's performance is nuanced and at certain moments really hits you in the gut. I really liked the layered character of the porn star that Luke's character gets involved with. I didn't even recognize Jacinda Barrett as the wife so kudos to her. Giovanni Ribisi and Gabriel Macht are solid believable "idiot savants" all the way through. There's twists and turns with the characters and the plot. Several parallel storylines converge at the end for a great finish. Even better that the ending showcases Luke's acting.
My only two complaints were at about the 3/4 mark it felt a little long, I guess because of all the different elements having to come together at the end. The other thing was Jacinda Barrett's Texan accent. Something was off about it. It wasn't really broad and overdone but you could tell she was "doing" an accent.
Some important information for Wilsonettes - Luke is just adorable in the setups scenes with his family, he's shirtless in a few intimate scenes, there's some really nice closeups of Shorty and Kevin.
If the nudity and language don't turn you off I would say run don't walk to see Middle Men! #woohoo#

Mixedberry - Excellent, excellent review! I am so excited (and jealous, baby!) that you got to see MM. So happy that Luke turned in a solid performance in a good movie. I love the supporting cast, too.
Are you in Texas? Were there lots of folks in the theater? Could you tell the overall reaction?
I am just crossing my fingers hoping it comes to Atlanta next week. I read that the 20th is the wide release but I am hoping for sooner.
As if! A shirtless Luke alone is worth the price of admission. :)
