I'm not quite sure what happened as far as the charges being made and then suddenly them 'turning the other cheek' and being photographed hugging the guy as if all was forgiven, who knows what really happened but it sounds like things are good now. I wonder why Owen caused so much media attention since it says beforehand Woody had been before without so much attention being given, I guess Owen is more popular there(?)...

This is the extended version of the video that People had on their website. Woody has a message for us. Click HereWe know, Woody. I agree with you Lom... there are so many unanswered questions about the whole thing. I just hope that everyone involved is genuine in wanting to leave it all behind. I'm really curious if Owen went through that ritual with the Ayahuasca. That just seems so scary, and I wonder if it worked for him...

Thanks dnuff and highbeam. ( I think that one's been posted...? Not with that particular headline though.) I never read the comments under the original article before (click the link). It's amazing that 99% of them can have an intelligent discussion about the article, as opposed to what goes on on most other blogs I've read.

I bought Us Weekly magazine today, the one dated 12-24-07. A story about the incident appears in it along with a photo of Owen & Woody (dressed and Owen with his fedora on). The article and photo are on page 9. The text says this (though we don't know if the following is any more factual than what we've already read):
"On December 6, La Republica - a national newspaper of Peru - claimed Owen Wilson, 39, and Woody Harrelson, 46, had assaulted a local photographer and held another against his will. The alleged confrontation took place a day earlier when the two friends were accosted in the province of Calca by cameramen looking to snap them visiting an orphanage. The real story? La Republica writer Flor Huicar later corrected her account to Us, saying that Harrelson's incident was "not violent," while a source close to Wilson says the alleged detaining never happened (the caretaker at the orphanage had blocked the cameramen's cars with his truck for only 10 minutes while police arrived at the scene, says the Wilson insider).
Despite their innocence, the stars feared that the photographers intended to pursue legal action against the orphanage caretaker - and decided to strike a deal. "They felt blackmailed," the Wilson insider reveals. "Owen was told that if he gave an interview with a Peruvian camera crew, they would drop the charges against the caretaker. Owen said, 'It feels unsavery,' but he did it and the photogs kept their bargain."

Wow! I'd tend to believe that story, but you never know what is true since they enjoy making Owen look bad.
