I love Wes' voice and accent too. I like it when he shouts out loud when he is directing...because he never seems to shout otherwise ;D

In one interview he claims that he never had a Texas accent. I was also born in Houston (only lived there four months). Anyway, my mom says it's pretty unusual for someone to grow up there and not have an accent. Maybe he tries to hide his accent? Just a theory. BTW, this is my first time posting on this board. You all seem pretty cool. When I visited NYC for the first time last month, I had lunch at Bar Pitti, the Italian restaurant where Wes and Noah Baumbach wrote TLA. The guy who runs the place said that Wes is "really nice and really cool." He also said that he hasn't stopped in since spring, which I now know is due to his living in Paris. Glad I finally get to share that story with people who may find it remotely interesting.

Hi there! Welcome to the board! Wes definitely seems to have some kind of accent, couldn't really place it as anything other than just Wes! What was Bar Pitti like? I wonder if Wes is living in Paris permanently or if he might come back to New York. I have to admit that it saddens me that such a genius is no longer in the same country as me.... Wes come back!

Bar Pitti is really small. Black and white pictures of Italy hang on the yellow walls. The food is great, and not too pricey for New York.
I'm sure Wes will get homesick in Paris, especailly if he's there by himself. That city is overrated IMHO.

Welcome Spartangirl06!
I think your parents have a great influence on your accent as well as regional influences. Eric doesn't seem to have a strong Houston accent either.

OMG! I can't believe he's living in Paris! I mean, it is a beautiful city but it so sad that he's so far away. But good for him for trying new and interesting things. I can't really hear the accent. I've lived in Austin my whole life, the only accents I do here are usually from the people who live out in the boondocks. But there are some phrases and expressions that are totally Texan, no matter how you cut it.

I wonder why he's living in Paris. Maybe he'll get an idea for his next (after Fox) movie..
But I actually remember an interview done for press around Life Aquatic where he said he would like to do a movie in India, which makes me wonder if Waris (the guy with the turban in LA) will be in it.

Here's teh article: KC: So your next project is going to be The Fantastic Mr. Fox? WA: Yes, I have two things: one is The Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is the Roald Dahl thing, which we are now working on the script for. Then I also have an idea for something in India that I really want to do. I should talk to Angelica about it…maybe I should talk to her privately…[laughter]. www.scriptfactory.co.uk/go/WhatWeDo/Extract_255.htmlAlso, he's going to hook up with me.

I don't know if it's a Texan thing or whatever, but he and Owen really have the same kind of slur/accent...
