Chelseagirl on Yankeeracers posted this great article. She scanned it from a hard copy. Thanks Chelseagirl! It is a great read! I can't tell but I think it dates back to March or February of 2003. Reading this article reminds you of just how well-read and witty Owen is. www.barry-pepper.org/sceneandheard/fantasy%20funeral.jpg

I've always liked that photo, Lib and the truth is nothing beats a authentic Gaelic wake. We gave my father-in-law a true Irish wake and all of us took turns as stand-up comics in between shots. I have no recollection if anyone was truly funny, but we roared and hooted and gave my father-in-law a wonderful send off on a jet stream of laughter. I know that's what Owen means and he deserves it... just not yet!! HT
Isn't it funny how everyone wants to "claim" Owen now that he's a monumental success??

I LOVE Owen's wit & sense of humor. He also shows a deep side to himself... which may be prerequisite for that wit.
Arguing with the priest... I wonder who won in the end? Did both he & his mum get to speak? Or did they have to choose which one spoke?
I can relate to his near-drowning experience. Same thing happened to me... I got caught in a rip tide off the coast of San Diego many years ago. I so expected to die that I was surprised I survived. A woman who had been swimming near me did not.
Owen's story about witnessing the beating disturbed me. Who would witness a crime - a murder! - and not call the police? That is troubling. Owen admits that he might not have seen what he thought he was seeing. He indicates he is grossly exaggerating what happened. I'll give our Sweetie-Pie the benefit of the doubt.

Ha, Remi. You are so right. I never thought of it that way. It sounds just like Owen to use humor to smooth things over. Unless he was too distraught. But if he did elicit a chuckle from the priest, I wouldn't be surprised if the priest went ahead and let them both speak.

Oh I am SO glad Owen survived... and that I did too so that I would be around to enjoy our Wilson guys.
I was just thinking how much the Wilson brothers remind me of the Gibb brothers - how they love & support each other and enjoy each other's company. Sadly, 2 of the 4 Gibb brothers have died, and so sad that they departed much too soon.
May the Wilsons live well into their 100's - which, by that time, won't be so unusual.

I remember reading an article on the Wilson-Brothers website some time ago regarding their grandmother and her funeral. She was quite a lady! They just mentioned Laura talking, but Owen could have said something as well.
