Zidane and Figo. The guys always trade jerseys at the end of games. Most of the guys on every team do that.... Exactly WHY? I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's sort of a sign of respect towards the other team and the players. Sort of like they were worthy adversaries. #dontknow# And Zidane and Figo are the team captains, so it's "symbolic". That's what I think anyway.

They are close friends. If they trade jerseys it's also because they keep the jerseys. They collect them. But you're right Nathalie, fisrt of all it's a question of fair play.

not against the Germans but in their game they usually cheat. In the calcio it's a kind of culture. For instance, during the match Italy/Ukraine the referee gave them an imaginary penalty. Italiens are the best actors you could find on earth. You can beleive me i know football, i know what i'm saying. Nevertheless, italiens are very good. They have a good defensive system (catenacio sorry for the spelling). But the french guys have good individualities such as Zidane, Henry or Ribéry.They are able to penetrate the italien defence thanks to their exellent technique even if the italiens are very good tecnically.
ps: Do you know about the current problems there are in Italy.La juve and Milan AC will probably be demoted in serie B and C for cheating with referees

Whoa... Nora. Natalie is Italian (from Italy) and does know football. To me you just called Natalie a cheat. Maybe this is a translation issue - but is smacks of Nationalist bullshit which I know goes hand in hand with the world cup.
Your attitude exemplifies why I will be pulling for Italy on Sunday.

I know of the current "scandal" in Serie A. Nevertheless, I think that's a huge statement saying that in calcio it's "expected" to cheat. The Italians have played very well during this World Cup, and they aren't there because they "cheated." They have played very well, and I'm glad that they proved themselves worthy of being in the final. Italians play very good football. The Italians are good actors? And what about the French? Even during today's game! I could talk about a lot of "imaginary" penalties I saw throughout this World Cup - I'm not talking about Italy, but the other teams playing - but I won't go there. Anyway, I'll stop here because I can get very "passionate" (what can I say, it's the Italian blood in me! #wink#), and I don't want to fight or argue on the Internet because I think that's just ridiculous. So you're rooting for France and I'm rooting for Italy. Some people are with you, some are with me. Not all of us will be happy on Sunday, but life goes on, no matter what.

Another thing I was thinking...does anyone remember at the Winter Olympics 4 years ago, when the judge purposely gave the Russian pairs ice skaters a higher score than the Canadians, even though the Canadians were absolutely perfect? I can't remember if the judge was French or Russian, but I never thought that all judges were corrupt just because that one judge was. They figured out that there was sneaky stuff going on and they had to give a gold medal to the Canadian couple as well. And as a result, there was a completely new scoring/judging system in place at this year's Winter Olympics. What I'm trying to say with that example is that not EVERYONE was involved in that scandal. And it's unfortunate when there is a comment like that - that it's "expected" that there was/is cheating going on in Serie A calcio. Unfortunately, if Italy wins, some people are going to criticize it and say that Italy paid off the referee or something ridiculous like that. If Italy loses, some might think that they deserved it because of the scandal going on in Serie A. It's a lose-lose situation for Italy, it seems. I just hope that both sides (Italy and France) will play well, and play fair, and without "acting" and without ridiculous calls by the ref. It's unfortunate when any sport is tainted by scandals - and it happens all over the world. Anyway, that's it from me for now.

It's sport and anything, I mean, ANYTHING can happen, even France wining this tournament. That being said, I think we should let the WCup run its course... Any team who wins will do so by their own merit, not cheating... At least that's why I believe, otherwise I would be inclined to believe the stories that France bought off Brazil when they won their last WCup... but that's another story... Nat, answering your question, in Portuguese Figo means Fig, the fruit. Not as fun as your version, I suppose. --- Modified to add: My theory on the exchange of jerseys is... The winner team wants a trophy of their victory The loser team wants something to literally spit on at the locker room. GO ITALY!!!!!

Very good points, Nana. ;D Nat, answering your question, in Portuguese Figo means Fig, the fruit. Not as fun as your version, I suppose. Fico means fig in Italian - but both figo and fico mean hot guy - sometimes it just means something cool, like an exclamation. My theory on the exchange of jerseys is... The winner team wants a trophy of their victory The loser team wants something to literally spit on at the locker room. #biglol#

i didn't say the italians cheated. When i talked about "culture" i thought about their way of playing football. Sorry i didn't choose the right words. I love Italy. But i think France deserves to win because they played against South Korea and Switzerland. And they eliminated Spain Brazil and Portugal. This was not the easiest way to qualify for a finale. I was just angry when the referee gave the italiens a penalty in the last minute. It was not fair for Ukraine. Arbitration was very bad during the world Cup. But if France win i will be very happy. And Italy is a country i like. I have always been disappointed that a good player like Paulo Maldini didn't win something with the national team. I swear i love calcio and particulary Milan AC. You're right yesterday there was a lot of cheating but not from french players. Portugesese (Figo,RONALDO....) lost because their first thought was to cheat instead of playing. It's a shame to be like that. I was so stressed but fortunately the referee was quite good at this point. Even against England Portugal provoked them. Ronaldo asked the referee a red card against Wayne Rooney while the 2 players play in the same team (Manchester United). Yet Ronaldo is one of the best players in this world cup he is very talented. But he is vicious in his way of playing. To conclude, i would like to say i'm sorry you didn't understand what i wanted to say. But try to understand that english is not my native language. So it's hard to me to choose the right words. Go FrAnCe and good luck for ITALY!!! France- Italy is a classico!

I don't want to answer because it's so ridiculous. Pffffff Do you know football? Did you watch France 98? ? No i don't think so. You don't want admit France was better. And to beat Brazil this year was not a chance. OK? ? Most of you have never watch a "soccer" match and you talk. If i say what i say this is because i know what i'm talking about. I'm crazy about football. I go in the staduim every 2 weeks for 8 years. you can say what you want it doesn't matter. bye!
