Thanks for the contributions, Mixedberry and Tonks.
I saw a trailer this afternoon for something that might be interesting and informative. It's called King Corn, about the huge presence of corn and corn products in the U.S. food industry. Looks like it might be a little bit like Supersize Me.

Torreys boys are allergic to corn, and btw, it's in darn near everything! "The Lost Tomb of Jesus" is interesting.

Startip, I just now noticed your posting. Yep, high fructose corn syrup is in EVERYTHING! And it's a major contribution to obesity. High fructose corn syrup turns off your I'm-full switch: you just keep on eating because your brain isn't registering satisfaction. It really ought to be BANNED except that too many of the "right" people are profitting big time from it.
Nutritionists recommend that we eat around the perimeter of grocery stores: stick to the produce, the meats (if you're a carnivore), the dairy, etc. Avoid the center aisles like the plague!!!

I love that advice! Especially when the beer and wine are kept on the perimeter of the store. I recently rented the documentary "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Runnin' Down a Dream" from Netflix. Here's the trailer (trust me, you'll want to see this - look for the Wilson-link). I'm not a big documentary person, but I love Tom Petty, so I was interested in seeing this. Much to my surprise, I absolutely loved it - I actually went out and purchased* it today! *The DVD they have at Netflix is the 2-disc set. The one I bought at Best Buy has the 2 DVDs, plus a concert DVD, and a CD... and it was only $14.99 (on sale)!

Thanks, Remi! I'll watch the video asap. Thanks.
Yeah, often the liquor is on the perimeter so that works for me too. ;D
Last weekend I saw one of the documentaries I had listed a few months ago here: Taxi To The Dark Side. Disturbing and dark viewing (not for kids!) but I recommend it.

Thanks Remi, for the Tom Petty recommendation. I like him too, and after seeing the video clip and glimpsing Eddie Vedder (eek!) and the whole thing, the documentary sounds really interesting. I'm off to Netflix it immediately. #dance#

Got to watch your Tom Petty video just now, Remi. That was great. Love his music - and what a wonderful surprise to see George Harrison, may he rest in peace. Thank you!

Well as this is a topic about documentaries, I don't know if its already been mentioned but I thought I might as well say that I've heard the documentary 'Man on Wire' is critically acclaimed, its about a I think French man who illegally walked a tight rope between the twin towers in the late 70s, I believe(?) anyway I heard its a very good documentary and ive added it to my rental list. Once I've seen it I'll gladly let you know what I thought of it though I haven't seen it yet...

Blue, I'm so excited someone else is going to see it! Please let me know what you think about it! Tex, George is on the DVD quite a bit, especially when they talk about The Traveling Wilburys. I always wanted a Traveling Wilbury's CD as much as a Tom Petty CD. I've got lots of shopping to do!
I heard something about that documentary, Lom. And I remember the incident. I remember seeing photos of it in the papers though I don't recall seeing any clips of it on TV. Wish I had.

Thanks, Lom. I watched both your videos.
The Man On Wire one gave me the heebie-jeebies. I have acrophobia so I doubt I could stand to watch the entire documentary. Just the video was painful enough!
I loved the Traveling Willbury's video but it's bittersweet for me to see so much of George Harrison. George was my fave Beatle.

No problem. Yeah I'd imagine its not a good choice for people who are scared of heights...

It's so bad I couldn't get to the second level of stairs on a fire tower. Going to the top of the CN Tower (in Toronto) was a bit like an endurance test. I could barely watch the first 15 minutes of Cliffhanger without turning away. I wanted to curl my toenails.
