I wish I had a UFO experience to tell. I've been near places where they have been seen, but no sightings of my own.
My parents saw a UFO once, and it was during a time & place when UFO sightings were active. My Dad had just returned from overseas after WWII ended. He and my mother were driving across the upper peninsula of Michigan. It was late at night. They saw a bright big light fly across the sky, from one horizon to the other. By the time they both said, Did you see that?, it was gone. They thought maybe they'd imagined it. But imagined the same thing at the same time? Next day, they found all kinds of news reports of the same sighting taking place the same time they'd seen it. So others had seen it too.

My mom and two of her friends saw a UFO, up really close, when she was in high school. She's told close friends and family, but she doesn't really tell the story because people won't believe her and she doesn't want people to think she's insane, so she keeps it to herself. It's a really cool story too.
I believe that there is something out there. I mean, if we can get to Mars and the moon, I'm sure that other life can reach our planet - no problem. Our galaxy is soooo huge and there are so many other galaxies in space, that I don't find it hard to believe that there are other life forms.
But that's just my opinion. I respect others that don't believe that is possible.

thanks texasgal!! i didn't have time to find it today, but you did and now i'll be sure to watch it!!
I totally agree, Natalie!! Every time I mention anything about UFOs, my friends just roll their eyes, and I'm like "You can't possibly believe we're the only ones here, can you?"
Has anyone seen "Taken?" I saw it last year, and it's absolutely fascinating! There's one character who decided to make a documentary where he interviewed people who had been supposedly abducted by aliens and when I was watching that, I was like "OMG! I wish I could do that!!" I think it would be fascinating to hear what people could have possibly experienced, even if it might have been their imagination...

Carl Sagan (and many others) have said that it's more likely there are other intelligent life forms in the universe than that we're the only ones. There are probably many planets in our solar system that could support life.
Unfortunately, unless one of these things lands and is shown on CNN, we won't know for sure. It's been suggested that these "beings" aren't interested in us enough to make themselves known to us because we might be no more interesting to them than amoeba.
An unsettling thought.
But maybe a comforting thought if they're that much more powerful than we are. Maybe they'll leave us alone then?

Then there's the other side that says that the government is hiding the evidence....
Who knows, but it wouldn't be the first time that governments hide stuff from the "common" people. LOL

Natalie, are you referring to the famous Roswell, NM crash in 1947, and the Air Force Project Blue Book that studied UFO sightings and which closed in 1969 (I think)?
It's very possible (maybe even probable) our government is hiding information from us. It doesn't want to cause a panic, and that's understandable. The world is scary enough without having to deal with hostile and more advanced extraterrestrials.
On the other hand, it's hard to believe our government is so competent that it could successfully hide information since 1947. There are just way too many people involved and too many leaks in our system.
I don't know; I'm just throwing out ideas.
I'll be really interested to hear what such a mainstream newsguy as Peter Jennings will present.

I'll be really interested to hear what such a mainstream newsguy as Peter Jennings will present. Yes! Me too!! OMG, TG, you've gotten me soo excited about this!!!

The reason I suggested ET's might be hostile is because if they are so peaceful why is our government hiding information from us? The reason they haven't done anything to us might be because maybe we are nothing more to them than amoeba. But, apparently according to Mysteries of the Unexplained (to be broadcast this noon), questionable things have been done to us. But whatever has been done hasn't been widely publicized - for obvious reasons. Don't read what I write, I'm just paranoid.

lol well, i now see where you're getting at, but many movies have basically brainwashed us to believe that they could be hostile, and if a group of people were to see one, there would be chaos, even if they weren't hostile!
you should read Richard Belzer's "UFOs, JFK, and Elvis : conspiracies you don't have to be crazy to believe." I read it in one sitting, and it was completely hilarious!!

L2D, there have been a few exceptions to the traditional ET's are warlike and dangerous theme. Those movies are "ET," "The Day The Earth Stood Still," and some of the old Twilight Zone episodes where ET's have been portrayed as benevolent - but it is we who are hostile! But I do agree with you that the majority of films have not promoted a warm, fuzzy feeling toward ET's. I don't believe there is a conspiracy about Elvis' death. I think his death happened pretty much the way it was told in the news. Yes, I know there are inconsistencies about his death - such as the misspelled name on his gravestone. And yes, I know there's a book and tape that's supposed to be him explaining that he faked his death and why. But I buy the story that he died as a result of years of self-abuse of his body. Such deaths happen every day. Where JFK is concerned, I expect at least one of the conspiracy theories contain more truth than the supposed "legitimate" story of what happened. If anyone is interested in this, I recommend they watch a movie called "Executive Action." Don't get it confused with "Executive Decision" which is a great action movie starring another hunk - Kurt Russell. "Executive Action" will give you chills. It sure had that effect on me. "Executive Decision" gave me the chills too - but for other reasons!

Another interesting story is how Marilyn Monroe died. I saw a documentary about it on the Discovery Channel (I believe). You always hear both sides to every story. Like her death, Elvis' death, etc. Who knows....but the truth is out there!

i'm not that much into the JFK and Elvis theories (but i do agree with both your statement, TG), but for that book that i mentioned, i was only referring to the UFOs part as being quite humorous, especially because it came straight from Belzer sorry, should've mentioned it before

The death of Marilyn Monroe remains controversial to this day.
1. There are good reasons to believe she died by her own hand - and nobody else's.
2. There are good reasons she knew she had everything to live for (not the least of which she was in the middle of filming a movie which was sure to be a hit, and there is evidence she was going to re-marry Joe DiMaggio).
3. And there are good reasons to believe somebody murdered her and made it look like a suicide (somebody connected with the Kennedy's?).
Another death that will probably never be settled.
