You're a great writer HT! Seriously, you have a gift! Thanks so much for sharing your trip and the world of the Wilsons with us all. Also I wrote somewhere else that I'm starting alittle online mag thingummy - and a few people from here have kindly offered to write for it, I hope you will write something too as you have a unique style and really bring experiences to life! ;D

In all seriousness, HT - I know you take most of what we say with a grain of salt, but - you could submit that story as it is now to a Texas mag, or a national one, and I guarantee they will either use it or assign you another to write. I know what you do for a living. It's a tough job. Why not reward yourself (and the rest of us) by putting your truly refreshing stories to use. You don't have to give up your day job just yet, but wouldn't it be great to see your name in print? Come on. Be the pen. The swift pen. You can do it!

HT, I enjoyed reading your posts about Austin and thought the parallel to a game of pool was very clever. FYI - Magazines are more likely to publish articles that include pictures. Pick out two or three of the best from your trip and include them with your article, if you submit. And there's a book called "The Writer's Handbook 2004" that lists addresses, contact information and guidelines for most US magazines. Phone numbers are also usually included; it's a good idea to call first to verify that so-and-so is still the contact person. There's a lot of turnover in the magazine industry. Good luck!

This life is filled with blessing and real friends who add their support to humble effort. Thank you for your many remarks and suggestions through the past week. I have appreciated your comments and encouragements through the Austin thread and the many personal messages that you have sent me. It is not hard to write about that which captures your whimsy and imagination and the Wilsons do that for all of us. You have made me feel wonderful about my writing and have pushed me closer to that novel bursting inside.
The real life story is not what is written on a page (or PC) but what friends engrave on your heart... HurlT

While I was Sleeping... I cannot believe that my first writing that awful "Texas Toast" upchucked on the threads again... If anything- I had hoped my more memorable "Austin Thread" would take the foreground. I am, at least, a little less ashamed of that posting...
For those of you so fortunate to be in Austin during the SXSW screening, enjoy your surrounding even if you miss the Wilson entree'. There is so much in this rich city and it bears seeking, if you have the time. God willing you may just run into the object of your affection and have the chance to tell him that HurlT says, "Bonjour, Mon Amour..." Trust Me- the bats heard me screaming it in the wind by the famed bridge- HT;D

I'm sorry, I am the one who bumped the other thread... I honestly have no clue how I ever missed this one. This was so awesome. HT, you have got to get your work published. It was just - WOW! Great job.

You are a wonderful writer, HT!! Never be ashamed of your Texas Toast post!! I actually loved it alot more than this 8 ball one, which I really enjoyed. Texas Toast had much more detail about the scenery - it is definitely my fave!
I really hope you will submit these both to Texas Monthly!!
