Aww, thanks guys. You all are so kind & supportive. I am very touched by your words. I took the photo of Owen I used for my model right from this board! So many great photos of Owen are found here, and more appear all the time, thanks to you all. I'll be kept busy for a long time. Got one of Luke from here also that lends itself well to recreation. You're killing me... the thought of drawing Owen & Luke & Wes & Andrew from life! Ahhhh!!!!!

Tex, your pictures are amazing! When your gallery site is up will you please post the link here? Or somewhere? Or several places. I'm just in awe of such creativity. And the beauty and handsomeness of your subjects of course! #crazylove# edited to add a qualifier because I know some people can't stand the idea of beauty being applied to men.OK, I just read a little further down the board and found the link for myself. I'm posting it here, in case anyone else is as disorganized in their thread reading as I am. I hope that's okay, if not let me know. www.allyngallery.com/

Well, thank you, Blue. That is so sweet of you! And thank you so much for the encouragement! Honestly, I was lucky to meet other artists at the right time who have helped me so much in my progress. For portraiture, these two artists have been the most helpful: Susan Carlin, in San Antonio: susansartjournal.blogspot.com/And Libby Peters, in Dripping Springs (TX): www.libbypeters.com/Libby_Peters,_PSA/Home.html My goal in art is to reach the level of them! And yes, there is something mysteriously intimate in painting someone's face. Maybe that's why I like portraiture so much.

Wow, amazing Texasgal. I love the artwork. Do you have any other subjects you've drawn? I would love to see more. Maybe you could start your own website and post your work there.

Aw, thank you so much wilsonwannabe. Those are sweet words to my eyes, as are everyone's compliments. There are some very creative and skillful writers and photographers on this forum - and artists too that I might not know about - so your compliments mean a lot to me.
I'm submitting my portrait of Owen & Marley to a soon-to-be-published directory of local San Antonio artists. And I hope to be getting my website back up by the end of the month. ;D

Nice works of art. I tried clicking on the allyngallery.com link but no website came up. Do you sell these via that website?

Hi Spurfan. Thank you for the compliment!! No, my allyngallery.com is no longer functioning. It got to be too much for me. I'm trying to start a new one through artspan, a free site for visual artists.
Yes, I do sell my work. I also paint portraits of people, pets, and people and pets from photographs for commission. You can get in touch with me via pm here or my email: allyngallery@hotmail.com.

I discovered Artspan is too expensive so I just today started a website at Artid. If anyone is interested, here is where to find some samples of my work: artid.com/members/. Then search for me by name: sherrieallyn. This is a free basic account. But if I get some activity and response I may upgrade to a higher level where I can set up a Paypal button, etc. Edited to add: I will post this same message in the MySpace/Skype thread.

Wow, Tex, you are getting better and better! I am very impressed by all of them!
And as I said in another thread, I love the table cards you recently created.
