If you love animals like Owen and Luke love their dogs, please visit the Animal Rescue Site. Just visiting the sponsors of the site helps feed rescued animals living in shelters or animal sanctuaries. It costs nothing but a little time to help out. www.theanimalrescuesite.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CTDSites.woaThanks!

That's a great site Margot. Thanks for posting. I hope a lot of people visit & help feed the animals. We got our dog Owen from our local shelter. He's a wonderful dog & I couldn't imagine him having to live his life out in a shelter. Here's a photo of him.

ItsAnO - Your dog is beautiful! (Just like his namesake) BAngel - I hope your kitty holds still long enough for a photo some day. Pats on the back to both of you for adopting rescued animals. Here are pictures of my fur babies, Maggie and Josie. They are also rescued critters.

All your pets are gorgeous! I, too, adopted my cats from a rescue shelter. They came from the Cats Protection League. They're both absolutely mad though. One of them steals neighbours' laundry. Like socks and hats and towels, anything left outside really. Our neighbours must have to buy new gardening gloves every week because he brings home at least a pair a week! At one point he was even jumping into someone's laundry to steal clothes. No joke. Once we found out who it was we told them and they now close their window at night, but he still comes home with stuff! I don't know where he gets it from. It's so embarassing though, we don't know what to do with it. I mean, you can't take home your neighbours underwear, even if we knew where it was from, and say your cat stole it! LOL. Even if it is TRUE! It's hilarious to see him do it, he's a tiny cat and he drags huge man-sized towels through his feet! I think it some bizarre way he thinks he's bringing us presents because we wear clothes. Very sweet, but absolutely insane! I do know for a fact that our cat is not the only cat in the world who steals things though, I've read articles in the newspaper about cats just like him! It's very rare, but not unknown. I always say our cats turned out so weird because they had traumatic childhoods being abandoned and all

I'm so pleased to see that so many of you have adopted rescued animals. This is a very compassionate group. LL - Love the klepto cat stories!

For six months now there has been a survival of the fitest battle going on in my house. My son's hampster Chucky has been a constant nag to our cat Zephrum. We used to live in the country and he hunt mice and all sorts of other small critters. When we moved into the suburbs he was very dissapointed. When we first brought Chucky home, Zephrum couldn't leave the cage alone, he kept hopping up on the dresser and staring at it. In response Chucky would scurry up to his little cubby in the top. Unforunately today, the battle was resolved. My son, in his infinite two year old wisdom decided that he would let Chucky come out and play, unbeknownst to me. He didn't happen to tell me this either. Late this afternoon he came and told me that the cat had thrown up in the dining room. I went in there and was saddened to find poor little Chucky. He didn't stand a chance against our stealth hunter. I asked Richie if he had let Chucky out and that was when he told me he had. I couldn't bring myself to tell him that Chucky had met an untimely death, so I told him that Chucky ran away. Very sad, but we still love Zephrum.
P.S. I lost another hampster, Corky, to our dog four years ago!

What a fun thread! I love to see everyone's pets. I have two Golden Retrievers. Maisy and Scout. When I was trying to think up a screen name, Maisy had her head resting on my knee and I thought, "why not?" ;D We got Maisy from a breeder and Scout came from a Golden Retriever rescue called Golden Endings. I would love to post pics of them, but the only ones I had were on the hard drive of the laptop I destroyed last week I'm going to get a couple more pics and upload them ASAP. I'm a very proud mama Uh....on second thought. I don't know how to upload them onto a forum. If it is easy (I'm not really computer literate), would someone please PM instructions to me? Thanks in advance!

Hi there Animal Lovers! I finally figured out how to use these graphic thingies. Well, we'll see in a minute if I know.... I have 5 rescued shelter cats. They run my household and my life. None of them are related to each other, and they each have their own personality & idiosyncrasies. I am a nervous mom about their safety - I won't let them go outside. But I have a big house with lots of room for them to run and spread out. They don't seem to mind being inside.

It is TOO terrible what happened to Gizmo, the poor doggie Sick people who hurt weaker creatures always exist. I hope they never get away with committing such cowardly sins. Thank you for the links, Margot You are very thoughtful starting this thread and giving us the link in your signature
