This is from www.the-trades.com. It's advice on whether or not to buy stock in The Wendell Baker Story. The Wendell Baker Story (WBAKR) Price: H$20.00 Phase: Dev Type: Movie HSX Description: Luke Wilson will wear the hats of writer-director-actor in The Wendell Baker Story. The comedy revolves around an ex-con who starts work in a retirement home in order to get his girlfriend back. The film co-stars his brother Owen Wilson and Eva Mendes, while brother Andrew Wilson will co-direct. Analysis: Luke Wilson is easily one of the most underappreciated actors in Hollywood. While brother Owen has scored successes in the comedy genre (mostly in buddy films, specifically co-starring Jackie Chan), Luke's career has been less successful, aiming for less commercial projects. And when he does try for something more commercial, like Old School, he gets slagged by the critics. What can Luke do when put behind the camera? Well, with brothers Andrew and Owen involved, we're sure to see something more along the lines of a Wes Anderson film than a Will Ferrell fratboy romp. That's sure to play well to aging gen-xers that liked the Wes Anderson films, but it's not going to be a smash. Still if it only does as well as The Royal Tenenbaums, that's still good money. And HSXers aren't going to ignore this project with both Luke and Owen Wilson involved. Verdict: Buy

Here are a couple TWBS tidbits that I found yesterday during my insane google search. Interview of Will Ferrell on Chud. I'd love to hear his impression of Luke. Will Ferrell: They want to do one. I’d do it. I’ve talked about it with [Old School writer/director] Todd Phillips and supposedly he’s working on a new script. I worked with Luke [Wilson] in Texas, because he wrote and directed [reaches over to his list of projects and reads] The Wendell Baker Story. We wrote the film with his brother Andrew and it’s his first directing gig. His brother Andrew played the policeman in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, so they’re co-directing that. I was out there doing a couple days, kind of a cameo and Luke was like [launches into a spot-on Luke Wilson impersonation] “God, I love to do Old School 2. I hope we get to do that, it’d be a blast!” Will Ferrell on The Wendell Baker Story. Will Ferrell: I don’t know if you’re familiar with the very first movie those guys did, Bottle Rocket. Bottle Rocket had that kind of tone which was really funny at times but it also was a sweet little love story, it was very similar to that. It goes in and out. His two partners in crime are Harry Dean Stanton and Seymour Cassell. You know, he’s got these great, quirky characters and the script is hilarious. It’ll be interesting to see how it comes together. You’ll be seeing me as Dave Bix, manager of Bix Bros. Grocery. Here's the link: www.chud.com/news/nov03/nov5ferrell.php3Here's a little blurb about where they were hanging out while shooting in Austin. Finally, where do all the cool filmmakers and their tipsy crew members hang out when they're not on set in Austin these days? It's gotta be Güero's on SoCo, where a recent margarita pit stop of ours revealed a downright infestation of Hollywood big shots clustering both at the bar and at those precious back tables, including various Wilson brothers and members of The Wendell Baker Story cast and crew, as well as various and sundry folks from the Cheer Up shoot currently lensing around the Capitol. And that's not even counting the local film crowd that hangs out there regardless. And here's a blurb from some gal's blog: Friday, October 24, 2003 I know that most of you will probably NOT believe this post when you read it because I almost don't believe it myself. But yesterday morning Luke Wilson...Luke Wilson the actor from such movies as Old School, Legally Blonde, Alex and Emma, etc...was in my office. Here, in my office...in flesh and blood. He actually shook hands with my boss and sat down and had a conversation with him. Why, you ask, was Luke Wilson in my office? Because he is in the process of filming his next movie, The Wendell Baker Story, and wanted to do a scene at our jobsite. But did I get to meet him? NOOOOOO! Why? Because my stupid butt was at another jobsite training someone. I should have been here at 8:00am like I normally am to greet Luke as he walked into the office, but I wasn't. And that is the cruel irony of my life. Probably the only chance of my life to meet someone famous (that I actually would give a crap about)...I mean really meet them...and I'm not here for it. Oh well, I do have pictures that we took of the scene he filmed here, so that's some consolation. And I did get to go have lunch with the crew at the set where they were filming the next scene (we had crab legs...yum). But no Luke...he wasn't there. I was so hoping, too. But, of course, Luke's not going to eat with the crew and extras under the tent in the baking Texas sun (it was 92 yesterday). Oh well, at least I have my picture...which is framed and proudly hanging on my wall. It's ok...you can call me a loser if you want...Luke Wilson was standing three feet from where I sit right now. How many of you can say that? Here's to surfing. Good times! ;D

I found this little blurb on imbd.com - the Andrew Wilson forum. It's some poster named skydivincowboy. The Wilson's were not producers on this film, so they would not have any control over the money. I am sure Andrew is true to his word and tried to get them paid. It is unfortunate this sort of issue becomes associated with the Wilson's and not Franchise Prod. I am glad this poster mentioned the production company and is full of praise for Andrew and Luke.
Hello
I was an intrigal part of the filming of the newest Wilson brother's project"The Wendell Baker Story". I had a great time working on the film from start to finish. Andrew and Luke never failed to let me know each day how mutch they appreciated and respected my (and our surrounding crews) talent and dedication to our craft of making movies here in Texas. The two of them ( luke and Andrew) depended on and came to love many of our local Texas customs. Such as: living for the moment, partying had ( after all, you can sleep when your dead; right?), getting up before the sun and enduring into and straight through the night for a chance to make real movie magic. That we did accomplish stunningly here in Austin. However, on the last day of filming as I was wrapping up the show to send it to it's warehouse home C/O Franchise Entertainment, Andrew Wilson came to up me saying personally " don't worry about the late payroll", and faithfully,"I will see to it that all of the crew will be paid. Unsuspectingly to me that was three weeks prior to me recieving my third to last paycheck and I still have yet to see any money from my last 2 intensive weeks os wha is known asm post production on " The Wendell Baker Story". Now, as I have stated, I had a good time making this movie happen for the Wilson brothers, but I have a mortgage to pay as well. Meanwhile, Franchise intertainment is currently shooting another picture in San Diego.

I was glad to have the opportunity to read the LA Times article, Thanks Lib... . I am interested in this "DDirector of Secret Operations" though. Is that just a fancy name for the keg runner? I think that Uncle Joe sounds like a hellraiser worth checking out. Luke commented on him during the A&E DVD commentary as well. Given this family's gene pool and propensity for producing prime cuts...maybe we ought to find an avatar of Uncle Joe in just jeans and a tool belt and stick him on the new face of the boards It seems like we've got just about all the family covered, including the dogs!! Given that construction background -whether he comes with a Wilson warning label or a mid-life paunch might just be a mystery worth delving into... T-Gal you must check this entire thread out and key into that article that describes a very interesting 56 year old uncle. Part of this thread checks out Uncle Joe and there are a few comments on the the adjacent TWBS pics thread. Keep Reading- you really missed some great info right up your alley... HT
