Thanks for your many comments. I must confess that I have many times preferred the "joking Leno" over Letterman. On the whole I prefer Leno's humor and the top ten is irrelevant. I have since then seen Luke/Owen and Leno interact and I am always struck that Leno's humor always puts his guest on the humorous defensive. It may be entertaining for the audience, but I wonder if it is comfortable given the personality of any given guest... Luke and Owen have always seemed to be able to create their own sparks with Leno's delivery, but now I also speculate about -their comfort level...
Since this interview and the deliberate discussion of his film, I suggest that Luke appears more comfortable with the Letterman style... I also note here that Letterman is not "interrruptive" in his comments. He is actively listening and NOT trying to decorate the stage with his humor. Leno can do this to eleviate tension, but a serious discussion is questionably achieved.
I am happy that Letterman gave Luke "the whole floor" for discussion of his debut film effort. Luke, in turn, returned the favor by not being mundane and incorporating genuine humor from real movie-making experience. HurlT
PS: All this serious sh*t aside--;D I would still rip his tie off and lock the boardroom door. Somehow it would be worth the ultimate pink slip from Administration - HT

I think Dave has softened up a bit over the years-possibly due to his heart surgery and the birth of his son-whatever the reason, I've enjoyed him a lot more in the past few years. I loved reading your comments about Luke-thanks for the great post! Beth
