Owen Wilson gets eyeful at British premiere of You, Me and Dupree
LONDON (AP) - Kate Hudson was a no-show but Owen Wilson got an eyeful Tuesday at the British premiere of their film You, Me and Dupree.
Hudson, who last week announced that she and her husband, Black Crowes co-founder and front man Chris Robinson, were splitting up after nearly six years of marriage, wasn't on hand for the opening at Leicester Square in the British capital.
But Wilson, who stars as an annoying house guest who doesn't get the hint he's outstayed his welcome, got a surprise when a woman outside a pub shouted out his name. As he looked up, she raised her shirt and flashed him.
In the film, Hudson and Matt Dillon play newlyweds whose domestic life is thrown into disarray when Wilson, who plays Dupree, seeks a place to stay for a short time that becomes too long to bear.
Wilson told reporters that playing the character was not too much of a stretch.
"I went to go stay with Woody Harrelson and his family in Hawaii for four days and it turned into four weeks," he said. "I think by the end of that trip his wife was like, 'So you need a ride to the airport today?' So sometimes you have to be sensitive to overstaying your welcome."
I Had A Hard Time Flashing For Beads, It Took ALOT Of Captain & Cokes & Wild Turkey Shots, I Certainly Would Never Do It In Front Of Owen
Comedy star Owen Wilson discovered what it was like to be the butt of the joke when he was flashed by his female fans.
The Wedding Crasher star attended the UK premiere of his new film, You, Me And Dupree, without the film's leading lady, Kate Hudson, who stayed away following the split with her rock star husband.
Wilson, 37, has since been romantically linked in reports with Hudson, the daughter of Goldie Hawn.
Wilson got more than he bargained for when a woman watching the premiere from outside a pub in Leicester Square shouted his name before lifting up her top in front of the shocked star.
The US actor later snubbed the media waiting inside the cinema.
He later told the audience as he introduced the movie: "It's exciting to be here. Thanks, everybody, for showing up."
Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas, who plays Hudson's millionaire father, was asked about the reported relationship between Hudson and Wilson.
He said: "I've been out of the country for a year, so I don't know about that part at all. I just know that Kate has split up with her husband, which is very sad."
He added about the film: "I had a ball, and it is such a treat to be here."
Hudson, 27, announced the end of her six-year marriage to husband, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, last week. The couple have a two-and-a-half year old son, Ryder.
