Hi caraboo and texasgal!
Can I try and help?
Caraboo I totally understand your frustration, message boards are tricky because people do tend to vent and we're talking about things we really care about deeply. I probably don't help either when I get too fired up and debatey with ya, but we all really do care about what you think and what you post, and we appreciate all your kindness in sharing what you know. I know when you post I am going to learn something new, every time. I should have been saying thank you to you more often, thank you.
I do think texasgal probably meant it literally without any negative overtones. She's very kind and I don't think she meant it in a snarky way.
Wikipedia is a great project but it does have some inaccurate and uncited information.
I do applaud anyone who would like to edit it, no one should feel they have to do it, if they do it's something above and beyond the call of duty and we should all cheer them on.
Don't let the Laura Wilson thing be the thing that makes people stop being friends here - it's a classic debate that we never really got an answer to, and it can be okay that we didn't. We had an old post about it with information from one of her show catalogs, which would have been approved by her before the gallery released it. For that reason I would consider the gallery catalog a solid source to cite. Maybe it helps a little to see that discussion and that link:

on laura's wikipedia page it says her bday is aug 28th but it also says she was born in ft worth, wasnt she born in the new england area? just curious

I have a feeling the wikipedia page is inaccurate, anyone can post incorrect information there. It says she was born in Fort Worth in 1945, but, there's a page from one of her gallery exhibitions, with her works available for purchase, that says she was born in 1940, and that she was born and raised in New England. Probably the gallery has better information.

I read somewhere that she was born in 1939 in Norwell, MA. so there's really no way to know for sure what information is accurate.
