*slight, minor spoiler below, dont scroll down if you dont wanna know* . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . \/ I also got kind of confused at the start with Bull Murrays character going for and missing the train and Peter watching him giving up on the platform, it seemed to me at least, as if he knew him... when its mentioned that Peter is wearing his fathers glasses, I thought that Murrays character was their father until its clear that, that can't be the case... so he's just some random businessman then? hmmm, I guess thats up to us to decide(?) I dunno... I loved the way that scene was shot, with the music, the slow-mo....I took that scene as a kind of passing of the torch/introduction to the newbie. Bill's been in almost every Wes film, and Adrien is new to Wes' acting company. That's the way I took it anyway. LOL As for what that scene had to do with the story...i'm in the same boat as you, Lom. It seems pretty random, but i'm sure if I think about it after some coffee I can find some meaning....lol.

Ooh cool, thanks for posting I checked on Amazon.co.uk and although it doesn't say when the region 2 version comes out (covering Europe), you can sign up to receive an email alert when it becomes available... im not sure if it'll be alot later because of some European countries not getting it in the cinemas until March etc. but I hope its sooner... considering I can't really play Region 1 DVDs at the moment.

I am going to wait for the Criterion Version. Last Wednesday I went to the Q&A with Jason Schwartzman. It was the most interesting event. It turns out that Wes has a fascination for all things Indian due to the fact that his best friend growing up was an Indian boy and he spent a lot of time with his family, learning about their traditions and listening to their stories. Jason is SUCH a lovely person. Very humble, lots of self depreciating humour. Very generous to the fans. He was also presenting TDL the following night at the start of the Moonlight Cinema Season, where they show movies in the park for free all summer.
He talked about the writing process, he talked about India and how it was such an amazing place and recommended that we all should visit to see for ourselves. It was a really great evening.

Wasnt his Indian friend in Rushmore or Royal Tenenbaums? Wes' commentary for these movies is getting jumbled in my head!
Thats very cool though. I wondered what made him set his film in India.

Just yesterday I was finally able to see The Darjeeling Limited.
And wow.
I LOVED it. The use of Strangers was beautiful, I had tears in my eyes. The line, "I didn't save mine" was heartbreaking. Such a gorgeous film. Truely one of my favorite Wes Anderson films now.
