Jude Law Pestered Wes Anderson to Star in 'Grand Budapest Hotel'
Though director Wes Anderson has his frequent collaborators in Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Owen, Luke and Andrew Wilson, every now and then he'll bring in some new blood like Adrien Brody in The Darjeeling Limited, Willem Dafoe in The Life Aquatic and Bruce Willis in Moonrise Kingdom. Now we can add one more name to the list as MTV recently caught up with Jude Law at the Toronto International Film Festival (where he's in attendance for Anna Karenina), and the actor revealed that he's landed a role in Anderson's next film The Grand Budapest Hotel. However, getting this role wasn't exactly all that easy.
Law told MTV that he's been trying to get in Anderson's films for years:
"I've been a huge fan of Wes. I pestered him with emails for years, saying 'I want to live in one of your films and I'd like to be in one of your films.' He sent me this wonderful script. I think we start work on that in January. It will be the usual team [of actors]. I have heard Johnny Depp is indeed playing a key role in it. I think my role is fleeting, but I'm very excited to be a part of that Wes Anderson family."
Hell, I'd take a role playing a tree if Wes Anderson wanted me to do it. And though the role may be small, Law is joining what will likely be a stellar cast. Johnny Depp is the only one who has been confirmed, but back in July we heard Bill Murray,Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Angela Lansbury and Willem Dafoe had been approached for roles. Law was even mentioned in that batch of names, so I guess we should have seen this one coming. As always, we wait for the next Anderson film with great anticipation and we'll do our best to keep you posted.
