blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/2010/11/10/bruce_willis_edward_norton_bill_murray_more_in_talks_for_wes_andersons_moonBruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray & More In Talks For Wes Anderson’s ‘Moon Rise Kingdom’ Tilda Swinton & Frances McDormand Also Circling Deadline reports that one helluva cast including Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton are in talks to join Wes Anderson‘s next film, “Moon Rise Kingdom.” Written by Anderson and Roman Coppola (the two last collaborated on “The Darjeeling Limited” and co-directed a recent ad for Stella Artois), “‘Moon Rise Kingdom’ is set in the 60s. Two young adults fall in love and run away. Leaders in their New England town are sticking [to] the idea that they’ve disappeared and go in search of them.” Should everyone shake hands and sign contracts, Norton would play “a scout leader who brings his charges on a search”; Willis “the town sheriff who’s also looking,” and who is having an affair with the missing girl’s mother who would be played by McDormand, while her husband would be played by Murray. No word yet on Swinton’s role. News of the project first surfaced in September when it was revealed that Anderson was looking to cast a boy and a girl, aged 12 years old for the lead roles. No word yet if he’s found them, but clearly, they will be playing the runaways and we imagine the action will cut between their journey and the search by the adults in town. The casting is intriguing as Murray is the only actor who is part of Anderson’s regular troupe of players, but it does indicate that perhaps he’s trying to shake things up a bit from this usual routine. We’ve been hoping that Anderson’s next project would mark a gear change for the director and it definitely looks like it is. The shift to younger protagonists and a period setting has us very, very excited. And naturally, a ‘60s setting will let Anderson go wild with the soundtrack (he’s already shown a fantastic ear for songs from that era) and we can’t wait to see what his meticulous eye will do with set design for the era. The film will be produced by Indian Paintbrush who handled “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The Darjeeling Limited,” and no word yet on a distributor (though Fox Searchlight is likely a strong contender). The film will go in front of cameras next spring, no release date has been set. Sounds exciting!

Good catch, Sugar! Wes news! Squeeeeeeeeeeee!
Oh, I agree with the article but such bittersweet news. If this casting is even partially correct...AWESOMENESS! I am crazy about all of the potential actors mentioned except for maybe Bruce Willis. (He is OK but not as special as the others.) How wonderful to see Wes mixing it up and how can a movie with this star power not hit at the box office? (She asks, thereby jinxing it.) And FMF and Darjeeling are two of my very most favoritist movies so this team of producers is a winner when paired with our Mr. Anderson. I can hardly sit still thinking about it.
BUT...
Owen!?! *sob* Owen does his best work with Wes and there is no part for him? Just last night I watched Darjeeling for the millionth time and I just think Owen is so good in that film and I will miss him in any Wes projects.
So I am jumping up and down with excitement and sobbing all at the same time. I should have worn sneakers and waterproof mascara to the office today!

Oh, snap. Is he or isn't he? Is Owen going to be involved in MRK or not? blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/did_owen_wilson_just_admit_hell_appear_in_wes_andersons_upcoming_moon_rise_/#Wes Anderson‘s upcoming ‘60s-set new movie “Moon Rise Kingdom” was announced earlier this year and apart from Bill Murray, none of the regular Anderson players (Jason Schwartzman, Anjelica Huston, Owen and Luke Wilson) were mentioned as part of the cast. Instead a new group of actors including Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton were reported to be in negotiations in a film centering on two young adults fall in love and run away in a New England town. But when Owen Wilson was asked today during the “Little Fockers” junket whether he would turn up in “Moon Rise Kingdom”—if he didn’t it would be the first time in the history of Anderson’ films—the actor said flip flopped, initially saying no, then basically yes and then well, we’ll see. “I am not going to be apart of it,” Wilson said when asked about the film, before clarifying, “Well, I won’t be playing one of the main characters in it. I have read the script and it’s really funny. It’s really good.” Did Owen Wilson Just Admit He’ll Appear In Wes Anderson’s Upcoming ‘Moon Rise Kingdom? Actors Says No, Than Yes, Than Backpedals To A “You Never Know” With A Wink Pressed a bit more and asked if the role would be a cameo Wilson said, “You never know,” slyly with a big grin which pretty much every jounro in the room took as a yes. Sounds like there’s a role for Wilson in the film somewhere? We certainly wouldn’t bet against it. No start date is set for the film yet, but we’d assume it will likely shoot sometime in 2011. Those who thought “The Rosenthaler Suite” would be next, the quirky auteur’s adaptation of the French film, “My Best Friend,” would be wrong. The director revealed earlier this year he has no plans to direct the screenplay he wrote and he only penned it on assignment to Ron Howard and Brian Grazer because the producing duo asked him to. - Reporting by Kimber Myers

Jason Schwartzman To Work With Wes Anderson Again In Moonrise Kingdom
Ever since making his first feature film, Bottle Rocket, back in 1996, Wes Anderson has made a habit of casting the same group of actors in all of his movies. Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston, and Jason Schwartzman have all appeared in no less than three of Anderson's six movies, and now the last name on that list is joining the cast of his newest.
The Examiner Providence is reporting via The Rhode Island Film & Television Office that Schwartzman has officially signed on to play a part in Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. As reported back in November, the film already stars Murray (who has been in every one of the director's films since Rushmore), Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton. Set in the 1960s, the plot centers on a young couple who decide to run away together, but everyone in town is convinced that they require rescuing. The movie will shoot this spring in Rhode Island.
The pairing of Schwartzman and Anderson has yet to let me down, and I don't expect it will this time either. Now all we have to do is wait to see if the Wilsons and/or Huston want to join the party as well.

*Note: This is older but I listed it anyway since it was referenced in the other article I posted today under "The Royal Tenenbaums"...

The trailer for this movie is out and it looks interesting and fun...Here is an article on it....enjoy! Action-hero Bruce Willis in a Wes Anderson movie? This we've got to see to believe it. And, with Tilda Swinton as a co-star? Moonrise Kingdom, the latest quirky comedy sure to have lots of emotional of twists and turns from writer/director Wes Anderson, is fast becoming the most intriguing trailer we've seen this year. The film is about two young lovers who depart their New England town only to find out that a local search party has been called to find them. And, just as you would expect, the film's trailer is all about the story, rather than its A-list cast. In fact, you practically have to play a game of Where's Waldo just to see who's in this film.Celebrity spotting: A game for Wes Anderson fans The unconventional director from Texas has a style all his own. Known for lush cinematography and a quirky cast of characters, this is one filmmaker who likes to take A-listers out of their element. In the past, he has worked closely with his Texas homies, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson. Both made appearances in the 2001 dysfunctional family dramedy The Royal Tenenbaums, as well as the 2004 underwater adventure movie, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, which also starred Bill Murray, another frequenter of Anderson's films. (You'll see him in the Moonrise Kingdom trailer, too.) Each time, these actors shed their tried-but-true personas we all have grown to love to find new voices. Does that mean Bruce Willis is next in line to give up his John McClane swagger to become America's next quirky comedy star? From Die Hard to The Sixth Sense -- Bruce does it all And Moonrise Kingdom loves every minute of it. Check out the trailer to see if you can spot Willis, Swinton and other celebs like Edward Norton as well as other Anderson seasonals Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray. Did we mention Harvey Keitel and Frances McDormand, too? Moonrise Kingdom, releasing in theaters May 25, seems to have a little for everyone, if you can step out of the mold for a minute and give this offbeat comedy a chance.

Congrats to Wes! Hey, let’s celebrate this: Texan and Owen Wilson chum Wes Anderson gets an Oscar nomination. My friend and colleague Chris Vognar is right: The omission of Kathryn Bigelow from the best director category was a major shocker when Oscar nominations were announced Thursday morning. Read Chris’ take on it here. It’s especially bizarre, given its best picture nomination. Oh, well. Ben Affleck also failed to win a director nomination for Argo, as did Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained, and both their films got best picture nods. But let’s celebrate one of the local or at least regional triumphs: Houston native and longtime Owen Wilson chum Wes Anderson got nominated (along with co-writer Roman Coppola) for Best Original Screenplay for the movie Anderson directed, Moonrise Kingdom.
As Vognar posted last spring, Anderson and Wilson are about to be reunited and it feels so good.
“This is the first movie I’ve made [Moonrise Kingdom] that he hasn’t been directly involved with, although he was around as a friend,” said Anderson, who became friends with Wilson at the University of Texas, which led to their making their first feature, Bottle Rocket. “We started out doing this stuff together in the first place. It’s a family dynamic.”
Anderson is planning a large ensemble piece that includes a role for Wilson.
P.S. There is a great early picture of them all that is connected to the article click on link to see... popcultureblog.dallasnews.com/2013/01/hey-lets-celebrate-this-texan-and-owen-wilson-chum-wes-anderson-gets-an-oscar-nomination.html/owen02-2/
