Hmm....I'm not getting the comment about Carla Bruni-Sarkozy having a "strange face." I should be so lucky to have such a "strange face." Sugar, I had to find "The Kiss" online as I'm not familiar with that painting. Hmmm again as I don't see a similarity between the painting and Owen and Marion's kiss. In the painting, it's hard to tell if the female is trying to be kissed or trying not to be kissed. Her face is definitely turned away from the male, and it is definitely the side of her face that he is kissing. Seems like if she wanted him to kiss her and was more actively engaged in kissing, she'd have her face turned more directly to him. With Marion & Owen it's definitely a "full frontal" kiss, like lovers who are equally mad for each other. But, then again, her body is close against the male's. There's no sign of wanting to separate. Maybe she's undecided. Ah well....I guess that just adds more interest to the painting. Kind of like the Mona Lisa: is she smiling or isn't she smiling? (Actually I figured it out when I painted a copy of the Mona Lisa. She is smiling but only with 1/2 of her mouth). Whatever, I can't wait to see this movie. I have a feeling this is going to be a GREAT movie and a HUGE boost to Owen's career. I have a hunch it will launch him into more "adult" parts like Marley And Me which may be the one that helped him get the role for Midnight In Paris. And yes it is torture to wait. Movies are in post-production for, like, a year!

I'm not sure we're talking about the same Kiss - I mean the sculpture by Rodin, it sounds like you might be thinking of Klimt: Here's another smaller bronze of the Rodin's Kiss I was talking about, because they were in the Rodin museum garden filming. In the sculpture she has her hand up on the man's neck, drawing him close: Here's a painting by Klimt that's also called the same name, maybe this is the painting you are referring to where it is not clear she wants the kiss?: See, my parents had a problem with me looking at Rodin's kiss when I was little because of the nudity, they are both nude in the sculpture. They would have been fine with Klimt's kiss because the man and woman are both clothed. Here's an article about Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, she definitely looks very well now and I think she will look wonderful in the movie: www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1258233/Has-Carla-Bruni-little-help-keeping-appearances.htmlI totally agree with you about Midnight in Paris being a great choice for Owen, it really looks like it's going to be special and I can't wait for it either!

Hi Sugar. Yes, you totally cleared up the confusion. It was the Gustav Klimt painting I was thinking of. I didn't even know about the Auguste Rodin Kiss, though I know Rodin! I would have recognized the Kiss sculpture as a Rodin since it so closely resembles The Thinker (also in the Louvre). I guess because I'm a painter, not a sculptor, I jumped to the conclusion that the Kiss is a painting.
And yes, I note the troubling characteristics of the sculpture. ;D
Edited to add: I just looked at your link to Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, and I have to admit the first photo of her is kind of scary. Part of it is her pale coloring, and part of it is my flat screen monitor which distorts everything down vertically. She looks better in the photos with Owen but those aren't close-ups. Also maybe because she's got her hair in an updo, accentuating her youthful jaw line.
Skimming the text of the article, my reaction is one of sadness that so much more is expected of women than of men. I guess it's because she is/was a model and a public figure that she is being so intensely scrutinized.
She still looks much better than I did at her age, sigh..... #sigh#

Wow! I saw Klimt's The Kiss when I was in Vienna in May. So much more beautiful than it looks in photographs.
Who knew it would come up on the Wilson Board a few months later? Hot guys and culture all on one blog. Awesome!

(and I'm probably the worst offender of thread-jacking). Yes, that's definitely Owen's mum, Laura Wilson, with him. Isn't she amazing? I calculated that she must be close to 70!! (I saw her age was listed at 62, and that was 7 or 8 years ago!) SLD: Aw, too bad you didn't get to see Owen. (I'm still jealous of you though!) Have you posted your trip photos on your FB page yet? Oh, and welcome home! Edited to add: I commend everyone here lately for their masterful article- and photo-sleuthing!

We weren't there very long though and it did rain.....sigh What a shame as I would loved to have read about a Wilson fan's close encounter with Owen. If I went to Paris I'd probably look everywhere for Owen's hat with the palm tree design, which he's worn outdoors and indoors. He clearly loves that hat. Lots of gossip today about Owen apparently 'dating' Rachel McAdams. Owen did look happier when he was filming scenes with Rachel but I don't know about this, it could be true or just PR. Also, his girlfriend was in Paris for quite a while, but then in Canada it was all stations go when she wasn't there so it could be true. Rachel does have a bright smile and I'd love it for Owen to be settled with someone but then he may not want that for himself yet. Here's one of the articles: www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/usa/3091944/CopyKate-girl-for-Owen-Wilson.html

From Lonegazer's article above: "Owen's got a tremendous conk ..."
I will not even tell you how I first misread that line. *ahem*
Lonegazer - Are the Sun and Daily Star gossip rags or are they considered reliable?
I think they would be awfully cute together. They had great chemistry in Wedding Crashers. Of course, it could be just the relief of having an old friend there while being so far from home. Who knows?
Texasgal - Laura Wilson is close to 70? Wow. There she is buzzing around Paris on a bike with her movie star son. That is amazing!

I can see how you'd misread that if you're not used to seeing the term conk #devil# The Sun is the biggest tabloid newspaper in the UK but has got several stories wrong in the past, although it has more money to pay for stories or information than other newspapers as it's part of Rupert Murdoch's group. The Daily Star is a smaller tabloid and used to have some crazy stories, but seems to have calmed down a little. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Rumor debunked! www.gossipcop.com/owen-wilson-dating-rachel-mcadams-couple-midnight-paris/I'm actually glad about this not being true even though I really like Rachel. Owen's had the same girlfriend now for quite a while, and I'd love to see him be in a long-term, stable relationship with someone not in showbiz. Interesting how he had his rep respond. Usually he just lets the rumors go. He must not want his GF to worry.

Hee hee, I love all this ba-donk-a-conk coming from the tabloids! Cheers to Owen's reps for that very effective one-word refutation - "false"! It really is funny that the tabloids always like to do stories about co-stars falling in love with each other. Whoever Owen's with, I truly hope he's happy and has the sense of fulfillment he deserves.
