Why wait for your boyfriend to get the dvd Amanda? Apologies if you have a mobility reason for relying on him, but if you don't I think that although it is nice to watch a film with someone, I like it just as much to put my feet up and watch a film when I have some quiet time to myself and enjoy the story with no interruptions.
Most public figures are different to their public persona and politicians are the worst culprits for this. Actors like Luke haven't been doing anything different to actors from the 1920s onwards. I like to watch really old films and I've read biographies on some of the stars of these films and they led fairly uninhibited lives, even compared to stars nowadays.
I'm not particularly religious so I won't pray for this but I wish someone would offer Luke better and more film parts, which is what he deserves.

Amanda, thank you for your kind remarks to me. As for taking a religious viewpoint, I like what Iluvtexas said.
But being Jewish, I look at it a little differently. (Not that my viewpoint is better than anyone else's!). I look at the heroes of what you all call the "Old Testament" and find that ALL of them were flawed characters: Abraham, Moses, David, and so on. Every one of those guys had terrible shortcomings, yet the Bible says they all had a special relationship to God. I think it teaches us that we don't have to be perfect, that it's OK to be human. We just need to accentuate the positive, shine up our halos and our neighbor's halo, and we can still do good in the world. I find that remarkably reassuring.
As are the Wilsons doing good, such as Luke's charity golf. I'll bet he does more than that but, since celebrity golf games are a high-profile event, he gets noted for that. As for the movies, they can be a little on the low-brow side but they still make people laugh (and don't we ALL need a good laugh?? Laughter is good for the soul and the body). And beside the laughter, there always seems to be a sweet and tender side too. You'll see that side in Wendell Baker .
Check out Schindler's List along with The Wendell Baker Story. Maybe don't watch them together as they'd be an odd combination!
Note: Since you're not familiar with Schindler's List, I must warn you this 1993 Steven Spielberg holocaust drama is very violent and disturbing. It is rated R for language, some sexuality, and violence. But it's also very good: it won 7 Academy Awards. I defy anyone to come out with dry eyes. It is the only time I've known of everyone to file out of a cinema in total silence. You could hear a pin drop. I might suggest you read the book (of the same title) instead as the movie is quite intense. But writing can be intense too, and I haven't read the book to know. Maybe it would be best to just read about Oskar Schindler (German spelling).
Edited to add: I hope I haven't offended anyone by going all religous. Honestly, I'm not all that observant & religious myself! I work on Saturdays, shop on Saturdays, go to the movies on Saturdays, etc. Oops!! #nono# #sad#

Lonegazer: I don't have any mobility problems thank goodness but it's just easier to let my boyfriend handle that part of our relationship because he is sooooooooooo into movies! He always has a long list of ones he wants to see and certain smaller movie places he likes to go see them but if I specifically ask to see a certain one, he'll get it for me. I don't really care as much and as long as we're together is all that really matters to me. I have a couple of friends to go out with if I'm dying to see something and it all works out okay.
IluvTexas: Yes, Luke is a good guy and does good deeds but that isn't the same thing as having God in your heart and living a lifestyle that is representative of him. For Luke to be living his life the way he does, he must have some sort of emptiness inside of him. I'm sure if you were to ask him (and if he told you the truth), he would say this is true. This is something you can generally ignore in your 20's but by the time you reach your 30's, it can become a real issue. Then you end up spending all your time trying to fill yourself up (with the wrong things) and eventually it's going to show up on the outside and you can end up looking "worse for wear".
Anyway, it's in God's hands now. There are people praying for him so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I find this whole religious discussion OT and extremely nauseating.
These are YOUR values and YOUR beliefs and you have no business pushing your dogma on him or anyone else with your group prayer. If this is what YOU choose to believe that is fine, but this holier then thou / its my way or no way BS is insulting.
What if Luke was Buddhist or Hindi? What makes you think you should be praying to make him see YOUR way? What if I told you I was Wiccan, Scientologist or some other alt religion and I have my coven praying that you will see OUR way? Would you not find that offensive?
Have you ever read about The Crusades? The Inquisition? We will push our values on you, and if you do not comply, it is torture and death for you. Religious persecution.
Worry about your life and not everyone else's.

Amanda, I agree with Tinalouise. I went off-topic above, and I'm sorry if I've offended anyone for doing so. But this topic has gotten out of proper perspective. Luke has done nothing to you nor has he done anything so wicked as to murder someone (as did Moses) nor has he arranged the death of a man so that he could take that man's wife (as did King David). If these guys can make it into the Bible as "good guys," how can you find Luke so wicked who has committed neither of the above crimes?
It's fine to wish Luke well and pray for his well-being if that helps. But I'm afraid your judgmental assessment of him is inappropriate and is reaching obsessive proportions. There are people who are very religious but they are also what you'd call 'sinful.' (Tinalouise presents excellent examples: the Crusades, the Inquisition; events where the perpetrators were absolutely convinced they were doing God's Work yet they tortured and murdered in mass quantities - and did so apparently with great joy. Do you not find that just a little bit incongruous?) Holding a belief in the God of your choice doesn't necessarily make one any better or happier than someone who holds different beliefs or no belief at all. Happiness comes from within (literally, as philosophy teaches that attitude is connected with happiness, and science teaches biochemistry is involved with happiness).
Again, being Jewish, I see things differently because being a good guy and doing good deeds DOES represent a godlike life.
*Texasgal stepping down from soap box - for good where this topic is concerned - and with apologies to the admins and readers.

So um, after being friended by Luke for a bit on facebook, I can't say one way or another whether that was the real Luke. I can say that I have not seen anything that absolutely proved it by me. There were occasional quotes, but without the sources added. Any photos that were on his page were net pix & fan photos. There was never anything personal posted other than by other people.

Thank you for getting this thread back on track Startip. I have to say before we move on any further that a few of the posts on this thread are bordering on being personal attacks and it needs to stop. This board is a place for civil discussion. Please refrain from posting out of anger, or frustration directed at another member. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - you don't have to agree, but do it nicely. Think before you post. As for OT, I've never thought Luke or Owen would take the time to have a MySpace or Facebook, especially Owen. I think they might dig Twitter, but I think they value what privacy they do have and probably don't want to be involved in that either.
